Quique Setien

Best option is to play 4-3-3 with Messi RW and purposely drive more actions to the right.

There is no 433 with Messi, and even without Messi it doesn't fit our only U-30 world class midfielder (FDJ), who strived in 4231 and so far is bad fit in 433, he doesn't have the discipline/defensive instinct or horizontal movement for sole DM and he has surely been a disappointment as CM.

Never mind we don't have an athletic elite CB who would allow the defense to recover while having only one DM. We have had one of those with Puyol/Mascherano/Umtiti between 2002 & 2018, but not anymore.

Look man, I have been a religiously advocate for 433 as the best formation created in football, but you need to be flexible.
We don't have the personal to do it. And you need almost a new starting XI to play with it.

We are not going for such hard rebuild even under new board. You need to ease transition and accept some compromises.

The video of Messi and Sarabia does not look good at all.

Messi definitely appears to be walking away and not listening while muttering to himself.

MATS in background..... if looks could kill.

Watched the full video and even Suarez seem to call him back, but Messi ignores him too and just walks away.

Guess that says it all. I think Setien is done after this season.

Setien just staring at Messi looking powerless.

Yeah even Suarez briefly seems to try and make him come back in but even that doesnt make much odds.

Other video as well Rakitic seems to dismiss whatever is being told to him and walks off arrogantly.

That dressing room has fallen to bits.

Sacking Valverde mid-season was never the right decision.

I think the board only really wanted Xavi if they were to replace EV before the season's end, but made a mess of the whole situation by making their pursuit of Xavi and their flight to Qatar to recruit him so public. We had known for a while that most of the board other than Bartomeu wanted EV out after the Liverpool collapse. They were likely the ones that leaked us meeting Xavi to the press to get EV out ASAP. After that point Valverde had been undermined to the point where he could not continue and the club rushed to find a replacement before the next league match and unsurprisingly we ended up with a gaffer like Setien.

All in all the coaching transition was handled as badly as humanly possible. I don't think the players appreciated how the club conducted themselves at all either, especially considering they were quite fond of EV.
