I think this statement is very true and something that will cause a rude awakening for many users here. The La masia generation of Xavi, Iniesta and then of Messi, Pique, Busquets, was a once in a lifetime generation where all the stars aligned.

It will take a very long time to reach the heights of 2009-2016, maybe not even in our lifetime. We can still be a top team but more in the mold of 04-05/05-06 Barca when Riijkard was here. Top signings mixed in with a few canteranos.

The rebuild will happen naturally when the likes of Suarez, Pique, Busquets, Alba and yes Messi decide to leave or retire. No President and very few managers would try to force these players out. We are at the mercy of them until that time comes.

Pep was a B-team promoted manager and turned into one of the best coaches of all-time. Chances of that happening again to any club are very low. La Masia produced half a dozen all-time talents for free. That will not happen again in 100 years no matter how much importance you give to it.

A very true and sobering observation.
When we had barren seasons before we were used to bouncing back because there was a spine or core group.
Now, this whole core group has to be replaced or even worse gradually phased out.
The board and players have been toxic. It doesn't help that the socis are pretty useless too.
