Dont agree and have seen players over a short term react to a new coach when they have rebelled against the previous one.
Almost buy in more and lift game as have a point to prove.
It gives Pimienta time to try things. See how much sway he has to try and implement ideas and how receptive squad may be.
There is nothing at all to be gained to go on autopilot with Setien until he is sacked and give Pimentia as little time as possible.
We saw that kind of resurgence in motivation when Zidane came to RM (both times) but that's the kind of case where the players have a notable degree of respect for the coach coming in. Don't know if they can break out of their disillusion seeing a B team guy who they don't know come in and take over.
Maybe if it was someone like Lucho returning, they'd be galvanized in a significant way.
I agree though that it's way better to sack Setien now and give Pimienta some time than to delay it until right before CL. I just don't know if Pimienta can put the team in the right state of mind given all the toxicity at the club that exists at every level.
The players are closer to the situation and see the fire better than we do. They've seen how aimless we've been in handling EV and Setien, how Abidal is on the verge of getting sacked, how several board members have been resigning this past year. The situation is bad at all levels and they are probably entrenched deeply in their lackluster attitude.
Even though a lot of this dysfunction is of their own making, they too probably need to see good leadership or potentially inspiring decisions to be uplifted into trying harder.
