at comparing Busi to Alonso,2 completely different players,ALonso is not a defensive midfielder for me,his role is like Xavi's role at Barca,Pirlo at Milan even if they play in different positions in different formations but yeah Alonso is superb,one of the most important 3 players at Madrid,he had a very good world cup but was overshadowed by XAvi,at the last Scotland Game when there was no Xavi,Alonso's importance was obvious and he was MOM,at Madrid he is bossing,Running the show,ayway I would pick Alonso ahead of Essien and argubaly Bastian Schweinsteiger especially if I am Barca or Madrid

Yeah I don't think Alonso and Busi can be compared really. Busi is a straight up DM, Alonso can be defensive-minded but he's not a DM really.

Just saying, the schedule always seems to favor RM, mysteriously...each successive season

And, btw, when does the rotation of the clasicos change anyway?...Is the fall matchup destined to always be at Camp Nou and the Spring one at the Bobby Brown?...Shouldn't it be on some regular rotation?

the inclusion of xabi alonso cripples the effect that xavi has on a team. so as a barca coach, if you would pick xabi alonso, you don't understand anything about your own club. xavi is a dictator. he demands possession, if you strip that away from him, he's useless (well no he's still magnificent but he's less effective and less useful).
he's an essential part of real's success and a big reason behind their success this season.

he will get there, with time (he's better than xabi was at 22), but he's not there yet and it's pretty silly to suggest that he is.

I'm a big fan of xabi, always have been, but the idea that he's more defensively intelligent than the best DM in the world is laughable.

No I was not suggesting anything but implying that Fabregas, a midfielder, doesn't deserve to be in the top 4 basing your statement on his lack of goals and assists is absurd . That is not how midfielder are evaluated...

I'm not saying he should be in the top 4 either, but I don't agree with how you came to to that conclusion...

How else should an AM, which is where cesc is payed for Arsenal be measured if not by goals and assists? Tackles?
