How else should an AM, which is where cesc is payed for Arsenal be measured if not by goals and assists? Tackles?

Lol, this is funny.
How about organizing the whole midfield, providing decisive passes that can change a whole game? See yesterday though ball to Chamakh that resulted in sending off Boyata and forcing City to play with 10 men for the whole game? How many decisive passes has Xavi pulled off that weren't technically an assist but won Barca the game?? And tackles aren't part of being a midfielder?? There is more to being a midfielder than scoring goals and assists dude, its that simple...

And if you can't comprehend that.

2010-2011:

Fabregas has 5 appearances, 3 goals and 5 assists.
Most of these appearances limited due to his injury

Yeah, he sucks

i saidi know that there is more to being a midfielder than goals and assists, but as an AM its a pretty decent way of working out whether hes having a good season or not, And i never said Cesc sucks ffs, i just said he wasnt top 4 in the world, which he quite clearly isnt, there are 7, 8, or 9 players who ar better than him, which is quite clearly true. So not being top 4 in the world does not equate to "Fabregas sucks"

Obviously there are many ways to judge players, Xavi for Example controls nearly every game he plays in. But if he has an assist or 2 he would get more acknowledgement for his performance than if he didnt,

and nearly everyone recognises he should score far more goals.
there are AMs that score more than iniesta, but none of them have as much involvement in the play as he has. sneijder as an example, he doesn't run people over the same as iniesta. he doesn't open as much space but he scores more goals. who'd u like in your team? iniesta for me. same for fabregas although fabregas both scores more and assists more than iniesta. by your definition, fabregas is the better AM, which I do not agree with. xavi > iniesta > fabregas/sneijder.

but nonetheless, you are right. iniesta must up his match to goal ratio. which he has done this season so you guys look like you are fit :)

Your point being?

I'm pretty sure it's obvious what exactly my point is.

He waste's a lot of money and is a 'checkbook' manager. I'd love to see him at Arsenal (well a few years ago) or Liverpool where there's no money to spend. How would the 'special one' cope?

And Wilshere, all those signings are great finds  I'd never heard of any of them before Jose signed them, must be a huge risk to sign players that are so established.

Mancini on his Roma form was worth the money, but Inter didn't play the system suited to Mancini. But yes it was a failed signing as he didn't do anything there.
Muntari - God knows why he was signed - not even worth half the amount paid..
Quareshite - See Muntari
Ferreira - I believe a good signing. He had 2 excellent seasons for Chelsea and helped make that defence solid.
SWP - signed so Arsenal couldn't sign him.
Tiago - was a steal a £10m a quality player and only left because he signed a better player the following year in Essien.
Del Horno - Agree
Boulahrouz - Could have been a top quality signing if given more time - only imo.

I ain't defending Moaninho here, just adding a different slant to the picture you painted of those transfers.

Ferriera has always been an average player, no where near worth the money paid for him. Tiago was sold for a €5m loss and never fulfilled his potential which is surely bad management.

Note that when Chelsea had no money to spend, Jose was sacked that season after bringing in Steve Sidwell as one of his big signings on a free. He's dreadful for a club long term unless you're made of money. After spending £80m at Inter, Rafa now has barely anything to spend because of him.

Whats the difference? He bought them cheap and turned them world class. Thats all that matters as they won him several trophies.

Sneijder 15 millions. - A quality player sold on the cheap because Real are mad
Carvalho 8 millions - A CB for a CL winning team
Özil 12 millions. - One of the stars of the world cup who every club wanted. Was cheap as he had a year on his contract
Samuel Eto'o Free - Because Barca went mad
Lucio 5-10 millions. - A well known quality CB
Arjen Robben 12 millions bought, 35 millions sold. - Ranieri signed him.
Drogba 30-35 millions. - Had an excellent season for Marseille.

All those players were already world class bar Robben and Drogba who were bloody close to being world class.
