To be honest, Barca and Real are the first and the second best teams in the world right now. Someone's gonna tell me that Man Utd, Chelsea... or Milan, Inter are better than Madrid ? No way.

If one looks at the perspective that you put.... one could say that Madrid is doing a good job so far. The absence of Higuain is really causing trouble.... probably cause only Higuain could replace himself in terms of a decent attacker up front. I read that Madrid want Nistelrooy back... still, wouldn't be effective in my opinion. Then, Adebayor ? :S ... only more trouble.

But still.. even with full teams, Mourinho didn't manage to do well in away matches in the teams he coached. And I'm sure these won't be the last points dropped from Madrid in away matches during this season.

Madrid will drop points this season, against Barca :D But seriously, RM and Barca will both probably drop points this season.
I read that RvN said that RM want him back. I think we can all agree he's better for RM than Adebarndoor ( didn't RM say they don't want him anymore? ).

Jose could have done better in some games , especially the last game vs Almeria .. yes they played really well but playing without a striker was a big mistake
Valdano didn't hesitate in shooting him down saying " all this talk about wanting a number 9 while there was one sitting on the bench " .
Jose is trying to enforce the club to buy a striker and according to the latest report on AS , Perez said "it's either Ruud comes for free or Jose use Morata and Benzema , the club through out their history always counted on the cantera and Jose must understand that" .. quite a different direction from the old Perez of the 2000's (Kinda ) , even Madrid pundits are blaming him for that decision (Kaka for Benzema ) especially that Karim was the one assisting for the equalizer
Adebarndoor is totally out of the picture , scouts report indicated he have problems as a professional and as a person

Too easy IMO to now shoot against Mourinho for benching Benzema...after all it seems people have forgotten allready how shit Benzema has been in the league so far whenever he started! The subs with Kaka' all saw Real play without a real striker and it worked just fine. Jarehead-Anelka was off the pitch and the gameplay improved for the remaining minutes. Baring those things in mind, benching Benzema was the logical thing to do sooner or later.

The game against Almeria was nothing but a fucked up day...Xabi Alonso, Di María, Özil, Khedira & Marcelo were all not up to their usual standards. Cristiano loses a lot of his game and danger when he has to play as lone forward, cause he cannot use his speed and dribbling down the wings. Nevertheless he tried a lot and was MOM in terms of effort for me. Kaka' is not yet there, but nevertheless played a few very nice passes. I'm definitly not a big fan of Mourinho, but can you seriously blame him with 5 players letting him down refering to their respectiv displays, 1 player just coming back from ages of injury and only Cristiano actually trying?!?!?! Can you seriously come to the conclusion: well, it's because he didn't play Benzema and period?!

IMO, in this situation, Mourinho could only do the wrong thing...starting Benzema would have been playing with only 10 men, like recently...again. He would have been blamed for that as well. If not against Almeria, than a bit later for not taking actions on Benzemas horrible performances.
A mistake because in the end Benzema was the one with the assist? Hell no!!! We all know, that Benzema is best coming from the bench and that those performances have absolutely NOTHING to do with the ones he shows when he's starting. Benzema did NOT make the diffrence!
What made the diffrence were the changes Mourinho made; the impacts of Granero and the tactical switch in bringing Carvalho for R. Albiol, thus playing Sergio Ramos more offensively - who from there on was moving forward like crazy, stayed in the opponets half and had several chances to score himself. That gave the game a lot more offensive creativity and power...Benzema on the other hand was nothing more than a flag in the wind.

The only thing i really do blame Mourinho for is to not trust in Morata. Seriously, timining never was better than now! Pérez & Valdano had a change in policy regarding the Castilla and madridistas are fed up with buying foreigners, calling for more spanish palyers and above all, more chances for Castilla. This is the perfect time to use them without taking the risk of deliver these kids on a silver tablett to the angry Bernabeu crowd when they don't perform instantly and thus burn them at age 17. That was a big problem in the past, but now the general tenor is more "humble": i rather watch Morata playing 4 minutes with heart and giving his all, than 60/70 minutes of Benzemas lame ass performances.
Again, perfect time to try them out without the slaughter of recent years!

I love how Pérez & Valdano go hardcore on the Castilla issue. After all, this is part of Real Madrid history - as Gio said. Mourinho should accept that his wining is not helping at all. It's not like they force him to replace 4 starters with 4 Castilla players! It only 1 ffs...changing 1 who does care for 1 that doesn't does not mean this team is doomed already!

Still his substitutions were not early enough, he shouldn't have waited until we conceded. It was not expected but he is the top coach of the world he should have weighed it in. Benzema actually gives us shape, even if his performances are terrible. He is not obsessed with scoring but that is his problem the team still managed to play well around him. Di Maria had a shocker, his game was absolutely crap and it shows how much of an engine he is to Madrid.

Madrid guys, I've got a question. Granted, I haven't watched a lot of the Madrid games recently and not with particular attention but I've gotten the impression that Xabi Alonso is...well, in rather poor form compared to what we all know he's capable of. Am I at all correct in this? If so, anyone know what's up with him?

He has slowed down a little in the past 2-3 games, he id due some rest for sure. But I do not think he is off form, just because you are used to him making incredible long rage passes in the EPL, in Spain they don't allow for that. However exclude him from our team and we look terrible.

Xabi needs to take more long range shots and getting on the score sheet. That is the only thing I am not happy about, I want him to use that strong leg of his with incredible accuracy to score goals. It will make him take more command.

I think in a way he has not been as consistent as this before, racking up that many points is taking its toll on him and some players around him. He is also running around a lot more making fouls and getting stuck in more but if Khedira wasn't so slow he wouldn't have to. I feel like if we sell both Diarras and get Bastian Schweinsteiger we could get more out of Xabi. No way that would happen though.

News regarding RvN. This evening there will be a board meeting of HSV, could be that there will be a change with regard to the position of sporting director. At them moment Bastian Reinhardt occupys this position and he is against RvN leaving. But there are rumours that Mathias Sammer (actually works for DFB as youth coordinator) I do not know what stance Sammer will take with regard to RvN, but he is normally not somedody to give in lightly.

Yeah, I recognized that too, also during the WC. I was always waiting for a long rang shot/goal, but apart from an effort of the bar there was nothing.

Mou laughing at CR or the refs?...I would guess he was hoping for a pk, even if it wasn't anywhere near the area

Well Nandor something is better than nothing . the problem is Almeria defense called for a player like Benzema not because of his goal scoring powers but they needed someone in the middle to give us a kind of shape.
in the first half every one had the ball found no one to pass the ball to .
apart from that excellent post i agree with everything and Valdano-Perez pressure is good although it can drive Jose away and in that case i'm rather fond of our new Castilla manager i'd rather have him as next in line

Xabi & Marcelo give us shape .. they are the engine in Real Madrid. he may not score a lot as liverpool but he dictate the tempo completely
you want to fuck Real Madrid now mark /pressure Xabi.. that's what Pep magnificently did in the clasico , Xavi was Xabi marker.. the rest was history we were MIA
