We consider 79/80 from the decade before so it does not count, right?

Barcelona are slightly more successful than Real Madrid in terms of the domestic cup and UEFA Cup. Can't be arsed with listing the rest, I am sure they will continue on the same tangent. No longer is Madrid the team of Spain, Barcelona are on par in every single way except finances and even then, it is nothing that will really cripple them.
This year is not the title breaker, this year is that starts with the next decade, the next 10 years. The past 30 years have ended with similar success for both clubs, Madrid's wins have been a little more spread out that Barcelona who when they formed a team was formidable.
The difference between Madrid and Barcelona might be perhaps is that when Madrid are on the chase, they never fall way behind or stay behind for a long time. Barcelona tends to drop the ball and when they do it takes a while but even then Barcelona have been runners up 8 times vs Madrid's 10. Madrid's team from the late 80s made the semi finals of the CL 3 times in a row always losing, had they won one or two they could have surpassed Barcelona, but it is what it is.
What is happening now falls just in line with the over all cycle in Spain, nothing out of the blue. It is a cycle and nothing in the world can stop it. Madrid is in the obsessive stage right now just like Barcelona when they were chasing.
There is plenty of talk from younger fans on here that becomes tedious to read which projects to me that they lack the understanding of what it means to both clubs to do whatever it takes to rob their rivals of their glory. Madrid's Galactico policy is nothing more than a way in which it has responded to Barcelona's success. Matter of fact remains that which ever method Madrid might have used, Barcelona these days are simply unplayable but a good chase will always be the least of which we could do.
