It's not underrated , just overlooked
latest research made 2 years ago ( think it was UEFA ) indicated our academy is no 1 in Europe , the players from our youth setup is spread all over
As i was saying yesterday 6 out of the top 8 top scorers in the CL this season has played for Real some of them are our youth

Success rate of youth products , Real has the highest success rate (even if in the last decade we haven't used many of them )
the article u posted mention those in Spain than you have the likes of Jurado , Raul , Cambiasso,Eto'o ..etc
the one who kept watching our youth was Rafa .. he is to our youth what is wenger's to barca youth
