well for half the price you are willing to take the chance now wouldn't you ?

you can't always buy established stars you are bound to risk same way we did with Higuain-Marcelo-Ramos..etc and now with Benzema.
someone out there saw something in the Frenchie , i may not agree on his /their opinion on Benzema (and i still do ) but we are stuck with him
in any case there wasn't many 20 year old promising forwards in the market apart from Higuain the rest are all end of 20's

Valencia we're unwilling to sell, we did initially want to take Villa over Zlatan, but still Zlatan over Villa sounds softer than Benzema over Villa. Plus the deal allowed us to offload the unsettled Eto'o, so it was an all-round good deal for us.

Your comparing a 27 year old experienced striker in Zlatan who has a bright history, to the likes of a 20 year old player only proved 2 or 3 seasons in a relatively low league compared to the Liga, Seire A, or the EPL.

and your point is??? cause that's exactly what i said...valencia were unwilling to sell...so how much of a choice is it when signing your first choice striker is not doable!!!??? btw, first choice striker is similar to real did initially want david villa, benzema was nothing more but the back up plan. that has absolutely nothing to do with the claim that real choose to sign benzema over david villa!!! so again, your point is???

i'm not comparing ibra to benzema...all i'm doing is arguing about the IMO irrational "madrid choose benzema over david villa" claim. that's completly irrational, since you can only choose once you have options to choose between and david villa was no longer an option at all after valencia broke the deal.

Ramos & Benzema are clearly in another category than Gonzalo and Marcelo, no?

I mean, the latter two were picked for 6-10 mil while the other already costed 27-35. Those two were already stars, certainly Benzema.

Established ? established nothing man.. Benzema is on the cover due to his move to Real not due to his talents he had an awful year in Ligua 1 ,
if not for his transfer he wouldn't make it at all except in the french addition of FIFA..

Ramos was freaking 19 when he moved to Real , promising young RB

Fair enough, we both could not claim Villa. Was just pointing out that we got a better 'back up plan' :p

Maybe established was the wrong word. I don't know how to put it clearly in English.

If I check Sergio's Wiki there is (he moved in 2005, OK):
UEFA's Best new player of 2004–05[citation needed]
UEFA's 2005–06 All-World Defensive Player of the Year
Don Balón Award for Breakthrough Player of the Year: 2005

I mean, that is certainly more than Higuain or Marcelo?

Ramos was already a household name with his work at Sevilla.
Any player in Seville is a household name considering the crazy Sevillista passion for football , globally or national level he wasn't anything more than another promising players like Pablo Hernandez ( Valencia although he is old ) , Negredo..etc

More yes but established no , Established i'd say the likes of Ruud,Xabi,Arbeloa,CR,Kaka..
Ramos was as promising as lets say Perotti now for Seville but hardly an established players

You don't pay €27mil for just a promising player.

oh yes you do ...when are you so desperate for a good defender and buying from Seville

we also paid 30 million for Robinho who was just a kid back then talked about as the new Pele.. how many clubs pay 30 million for a player from Brazil with no big experience or anything ?

Perez was desperate that year and paid big money for Ramos-Baptista-Robinho ..

Poor_Sunyol

In Lucho we trust!
Perez is desperate every year. You must be the only person on the planet who will not accept that Madrid are making exactly the same mistakes all over again. Spasticos II.
