Perez is desperate every year. You must be the only person on the planet who will not accept that Madrid are making exactly the same mistakes all over again. Spasticos II.

he is desperate and always will be desperate .. there is no denying that.
the difference is Valdano this time around and the authority he is given over the club fortunes ..

if it was up to Perez you would see no Xabi - Arbeloa,Granero or Albiol

Metaphysical

Bomb Dropper
agree with most of what you said here Meta especially Xabi bizarre form , Momo Diarra return and lack of CR goals last game has exposed Xabi poor game so far .
But i think the idea was to keep possession and allow the likes of Marcelo to bomb forward and never look back (defend )
the failure in this plan was the DM department.
on paper Xabi & Diarra should preform the first line of defense allowing Marcelo - Ramos to go up front and offer the missing width to make the team look like this
-------------Pepe------------Albiol------------
-----------Diarra-----------------Xabi----------
Ramos-------Kaka---------------CR--------Marcelo
---------------Higuain-------Benzema -----------

the problem is so far the 2 DM's (par Lass in the first 2 games ) and Momo Diarra in the last game hasn't preformed so it was a quick smash and grab .

in the Seville game you could see Diarra covering Ramos area which he did superbly while Xabi exposed Marcelo time and time again and he fucked up in his passing more than once.
I know everyone pointed at Marcelo but his role was to provide width upfront and without back up from Xabi Navas murdered him cause he is a talented and faster

Diarra performance exposed the DM's big time and i think it was clear when we were overrun after he went out

that's an interesting tactic, and it kinda makes sense as marcelo can't defend for fuckery.

the problem is xabi isn't really a defensive DM. he's like a sturdier more physical version of pirlo (or a spanish michael carrick). liverpool's outstanding defensive presence has created an illusion that he can be a functioning defensive asset when really he's just there.

it's like putting michael carrick in midfield and asking him to be a volante. defensively he's fine as long as darren fletcher's buzzing around like a motherfucker and anderson is coming in and helping out too, but when anderson has an off game and you replace fletcher with giggs it exposes carrick coz he has too much to do. i.e. man utd crushing arsenal 1-3 and being spanked senseless by us 2-0.

if you're playing xabi as part of a double pivot then the team either needs to be defensive (never gonna happen) or you need the winger ahead of him to help out defensively (CR, also never gonna happen) OR you need your LB to be sensible, patient, defensively inclined and competent (i.e. arbeloa, not marcelo).

it'll be interesting to see if pellegrini adapts to this, because attacking fullbacks are a staple of his. but unless you sign cashley cole or patrice evra you're always gonna be exposed playing an attacking LB with xabi in left DM.

really real should drop the 4222 and play 4231. I mean, if you play a #9 up-top and then have a fixed double-pivot you have solidity and a frame, then have your three best attacking players with free-roles inbetween them to move around and fuck shit up. ramos will join them from RB because he's insane like that, and you'll still have a solid defensive five with which to deal with counterattacks.

Benzema Outburst Causes Real Madrid Rift

Los Blancos' summer recruit is reportedly unhappy with his role in the squad, and has made his feelings perfectly clear.
Oct 6, 2009 4:13:55 AM

Karim Benzema has stunned Real Madrid by stating that he does not want to play up front with Raul and is furious about being constantly substituted during matches, according to a report in Sport.

The moody French striker raged at coach Manuel Pellegrini after the defeat in Sevilla, when he was again withdrawn, because he was assured that he would not be rotated.

The report states that Benzema's attitude has not gone down well at the Santiago Bernabeu and that his outburst may have more serious repercussions within the squad.

The €35 million signing reportedly believes that playing up front with Raul is hampering him because he thinks that the Madrid captain is not mobile enough and that they cross over each other.

Pellegrini chose to listen to the forward's outburst, remaining silent as the Frenchman fumed that it is his right to play whole games after being brought in for such a large fee from Olympique Lyonnais.

The outburst by the player and the coach's inability to react shows that Pellegrini has less influence than he would like at the club.

In the summer the Chilean coach wanted to keep Alvaro Negredo and use the €35m that was spent on Benzema to keep Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben.

President Florentino Perez wanted a big name up front, and the move for Benzema was made, but that could be about to backfire as the first signs of his temperament are showing.

Pellegrini supposedly felt that Benzema was not mature enough for a move to Real Madrid.

First i disagree with your description of Xabi , off form ? definitely, Michael Carrick ? Xabi piss all over him ..
Xabi need to play beside Momo Diarra and regain his form nothing more .. he is a great defensive play maker ..one of the best in the world atm .

second u can't play with a right winger if the manager don't believe in wingers and pure attacking midfielders mind u in his point of view Kaka & CR are not playing as AM's in the 4-2-2-2 but free roam to go from left & right ..etc that's why i said earlier in my reply to Irv (or Kevin ) that it will take longer for the players to understand and adapt to the tactics which brings me back to my initial post that Real will not win the liga this year
what about marca aka the real madrid post aka the king's newspaper? (in reply to the goal.com post made by beast)
huh ?? there is nothing on Marca about Benzema wtf you are talking about mate ?

pure fiction

if he did such a thing i would be (happily ) the first calling for his head..

it's 2 weeks of international football and Sport & EMD are filling the news with some juicy stuff about Real made up in Caffe Costa . ignore it to save yourself the time

Beast, is it ok if I keep posting those Sport-Goal articles here just to bump this board? What about Marca articles regarding locker room news?

The forum has strict rules about goal.com news due to the lack of authenticity and made up news they have a thread where they move goal.com articles /posts in it .. so i guess you have to take it with Bojan or Maz it's their decision .
Personally i stopped looking into goal as my Spanish is getting a little better with the amount of reading i do and i head to Marca & AS websites every morning .
regarding the back room news AS is more spicy in that matter , Marca usually have an editorial or 2 with some good info but they try to keep it official as much as possible (although they fail at times ) unless they want to convey a certain message like today "Perez request Joga Bonita " inside the story it says it is required only against weaker teams but not in CL KO ties or vs games against the likes of Barca, Seville..etc so at the end it was much ado about nothing .. no story there as Madrid is always bound to try to win and play well all their lives .
or Gago interview that the Bernabeu don't like him..etc
