tricky...i've read an article the other day claiming, that while last season real madrid were playing like portsmoth, lass was the shit because that kinda of style/system suited his game perfect. whereas this seasons style/system under pellegrini doesn't suite lass at all, which is why he doesn't perform the way he did before, therefore he basically slows down/hinders the team, therefore it's more a question of not suiting the system/style than a question of bad form.

personally i wouldn't mind selling him !!!IF!!! real get a DM who's "better" in terms of adding more to the current style/system real madrid play instead. which is also very tricky considering the open question about pellegrini and possible replacements, who could change the style/system again and play something that suits lass pretty well.

I've seen them both Tren this season and trust me Xabi plays almost ahead of the defense in Real , even Lass-Gago play further ahead of him and do the distribution most of the time ( i know it's retarded i agree )

Have to admit i dont watch many RM matches this season (actually next to none ), but that indeed surprises me and i dont get the idea behind this. Is he supposed to feed the wings with long passes from there? I mean, thats not unusually a job for one of the CDs in modern football, so that sounds like a huge waste. Does that also mean he doesnt step up far ahead to sort out the buildup from the midfield central? B/c thats what i would suppose, his best asset.

Fully agree Tren , that's what i was expecting as well sadly he is playing as a pure DM (Wasted ) while the likes of Lass & Gago are the ones who join the attack , Xabi most of the times stay behind as the last midfielder .. i never understood that and i believe it wasted 50 % of Xabi strength

Xabi and Lass should be your central midfield imo. They should complement each other quite well.

Except they never did. It was either that Lass was never content with staying at the back and Xabi took it upon himself to stay behind which was a complete waste, or it is that Xabi was shy and rather stayed behind.

On paper, they were perfect, in reality, very poor.

Raul has an ankle sprain and no news on how long it will affect him but VDV will miss the rest of the season
