Nothing suggest merely a simple change like that would change the outcome of the season.

It would be one way to put the weakest link out of the defense. With and without the ball Pique is hindering this team massively.
Don't know why his buildup still gets praised. He has become too slow with his decisions and his passing range has always been extremely short. Probably the CB on a top team with the worst diagonal balls out there.
His defense contribution is obviously nonexistent.

Putting FDJ in defense is certainly weakening the midfield and our attack because of his verticality and presence in the box but the whole team was so much better than with Pique in the back line. With Frenkie we were proactive and playing from the back at a higher pace.

Fair point, although perhaps this is for the better if this brings forward some proper changes even though it feels like we've been saying this for the last three years now. I'm not convinced we'd still win the league that way, we've been very inconsistent and failed to step up what it matters all season long, sadly.

Hopefully he gets the Dutch NT job back. He should after the Euros since de Boer is a disaster.

They had a very good thing going with him.

We desperately need a rebuild and the club has obviously made horrible decision after horrible decision in the last years.
The depth, the wage bill, the president, the Messi saga, the scandals, the beatings in CL etc. etc. It is a long and complex story and a dark chapter in Barca history even though we have been competing for years.

But right now Koeman and the squad managed to get into a situation were we had the opportunity to grab the title. And I think without certain veterans we could be leading the league now but at the end it was them who managed to give away leads against rather small teams.

Don't really have anything against Koeman the manager. I'd probably like him if he was a RM figure fighting as hard as he does for his own. He's a bit braindead and feeds into conspiratorial nonsense a lot, but heart's where it ought be with the club. Commendable.

Getting quite difficult to say where the build needs to start with you lot. So much needs a fix, from years back. Manager is the last resort problem to fix at this point and should be changed as 3rd or 4th priority.
My list would be:
a) Messi needs to go, to free the sense of independence in others, but won't because club legend, net benefit ya dee ya.. it's a first step without which nothing happens and the spirit of restlessness persists
b) Quality CB that can be a head of a team, without being a star with an ego that automatically makes locker room structure clashes; one that helps to build from back, and stays fit
c) A reliable forward comfortable centrally, doesn't even have to produce insane individual output, Barca are good offensively at coping with it but need a constant presence to help balance - can't just fix the D - an obvious issue - without simultaneously sending a message that O isn't that great either
d) Athletic CM and LB to partner FDJ and Pedri down that left side setting up whoever the forwards of choice are going to be

Only change Koeman if keeping him means he throws a hissy fit over losing 1-2 finished players who shouldn't have even been here since 2018-19

I don't know what the Laporta plan is, I feel like he'll always try to overcompensate because prestige and image is completely fucked over years of global humiliations and current debt, so he might just try to gamble as hard as he can & going high-risk high-reward because it tends to work for him somewhat. I for sure don't want it to get to the point where Barca sell stars 1-2-3 summers in a row, invest in terrible players (for whatever reason, being snubbed by Haaland, everyone else going to the Prem etc) and end up in a place where they can't catch up anymore without a legend fundamental coach building things back all the way up.
He better not mess it up with Koeman. We need a strong La Liga for all involved. It was best when built a team around an epic generation and Perez felt compelled to really focus on football and sporting rather than building image (stadium, Super League f knows what else).

Currently we are closer to Arsenal level than Barca level of the glorious past. You are the best positioned club in Spanish football and could have nearly an untouchable route to the league title in the next 5-7 seasons easily. I don't see ATM competing and think Simeone is massively overrated. However, it's not looking like a good future for Spanish teams in CL and Europa. Feels like the gap between EPL and LL is widening
