Ronald Koeman

"President Laporta and Ronald Koeman are now meeting at a restaurant in Barcelona. [mediaset]"

"The dressing room's relationship with Koeman is cordial. It's not very good, but there's a lot of mutual respect. The tactical aspect is where there are more doubts. Koeman's substitutions are always late and very predictable. [sport]"

In some sense predictable, but who predicted Roberto at CB, and who predicted playing without midfielders some games when needing to score?

Yeah the late subs without any midfield makes no sense. The whole team suffers when no one understands to defend or play from midfield.

What's weird is why no one in the club challenges his stubbornness and super weird man-management. Even outside the club, haven't seen any journalist press him as to why he favored the rusty ol' pops and risks running Pedri 6 feet under rather than play Puig.

Saw Pogba mentioned and I really like this doo so I ran a comparison with Mav and lil'riq dominates in literally all metrics! WTF !!! from eye test, I knew he's good but didn't realize he was THAT good!

https://fbref.com/en/stathead/player_comparison.cgi?request=1&sum=0&comp_type=by_type&dom_lg=1&spec_comps=big_5&player_id1=f090a37a&p1yrfrom=2020-2021&player_id2=0d9b2d31&p2yrfrom=2020-2021&player_id3=867239d3&p3yrfrom=2020-2021&player_id4=6622454d&p4yrfrom=2020-2021&player_id5=79300479&p5yrfrom=2020-2021&player_id6=c0617e2b&p6yrfrom=2020-2021

just don't forget to hit the per90 toggle cuz he only played 211 min. Pedri played 2370 min. Dude's a trooper but if he gets injured due to lack of rest would me feeeeeeeeeekd up

Also about Xavi needing to wait till amigos leave, I don't see why. Just show them their metrics or slow-frame their fuck-ups on the big screen playing Ave Satani in the background. They'd get it. Then can all go out together and party :D

Staying in Q and waiting for top signings and amigos to be cleared is a huge missed opp.

Imagine he comes back smack in the middle of the storm, makes all the right moves and steers the ship to success. Dude would gain instant super hero status! And this would be good for Koemann too legacy wise as history would remember him favorably.

We improved as a team, that is a fact. But we also need to note his 1- in-game and 2- poor sqaud management. I would keep him, of course, unless either Klopp/ Pep becomes available. It appears that we really missed out on Tuchel, unfortunately (/ he could be having a good run for now. Time will tell).

If it is a fact, what is it based on?
At best, Barcelona get as many points as last year in the league
In Europe, they went out earlier and not against the winner this time, and they didn't win the group either.
They didn't need to face the Madrid teams to win the cup this year, they beat a lot of teams after extra time...

I was never impressed with the play. I think they lacked structure and a sense of a plan the whole season. I didn't see them struggle in buildup as much as they did this year since Rijkaard.

Although I disagree with you, I get your point. I have been enjoying Barca a lot more than last season, and I think we are playing a lot better, despite our flaws.

Any way you cut, we're creating way more chances than under both Valv and Set. His problem is that he is way too rigid in terms of tactics, rotations and subs, and on the spot in-game adjustments.

The other question is, if we're to cut his stay short, will he be due an early exit fee and if so, can we even afford that penalty and hire a new coach on top?

Then gotta look at who we can get. Rodgers sure but is he really available. Xavi in a few years? ok but then, what's the reason he's not coming now?

If he feels deep down he's not ready yet. Aiiigght I can dig it but if it's that we feel he wouldn't be able to bench his friends. Man respectfully what's that f'ked up logic?

If Xavi can't even bench a few players, how can we expect him to have the fortitude and strength to hold the course when the going gets tough?

And if he's strategically waiting for the club to be in a stronger position and roll the carpet for him with all the fanfares, well that's not very promising. As an up and comer coach, I'd jump on the chance to save current Barca rather than let someone else do it for me.

Koe to his credit did join during a crisis. He did err though in showing favoritism to the vets. In his case, seems weird to think he'd be intimidated by the likes of Alphaboi, Pike, Bob and Umtits. I've no clue why he did.

Maybe his limitation is that he really think they're the stronger options, and if that's the case, then the only way to keep him and do well next season is for Laporta to either:

1/ have a talk with him and tell him to get it together _ I dunno give him a copy of coaching 4 dummies :brevet:

2/ if above not enough, appoint Baldo to takeover or have the two work together

3/ Purge a max of the deadweight, so that Koe would only have limited ammo to shoot himself in the foot.

In any case, things gotta change one way or another... datz 4 shuuuu

.
It's a fact we have the best attack in Europe based on our xG performance.
Convertion was the problem on that end.
On the other end there are issues.

Per 90 will not do the trick: When a player has played less than 500-600 min per season, you don't get realistic data in any category.
You get tainted results.
Basic principle employed by most data analytics teams, that don't compare if the minutes are not comparable.

yep yep makes sense ...

So when selecting entire career including extra-curricular pancake flippin lol we get:

https://fbref.com/en/stathead/player_comparison.cgi?request=1&sum=0&comp_type=by_type&dom_lg=1&spec_comps=big_5&player_id1=f090a37a&player_id2=0d9b2d31&p2yrfrom=2020-2021&player_id3=867239d3&p3yrfrom=2020-2021&player_id4=6622454d&p4yrfrom=2020-2021&player_id5=79300479&p5yrfrom=2020-2021&player_id6=dbf053da&p6yrfrom=2020-2021

in Goals and Assists per 90, he ranks 3rd in that group under Sancho and Ziyech. Ditto with Goal Creating Actions (Sancho Panca putting up super stronger numbers)

In successful dribbles, his 3rd behind Sancho and Pogba and tops the line in carries with Sancho and Pedri following suit?

I know stats only give a small piece of the puzzle and but they do confirm the eye-test I find.

Then the problem is the bulk of Puig stats come from his Barca B games.
Now you have a problem of incomparable levels

aaahhhh screw it I give up

Pedri putting up some pretty groovy numbers on defensive duty and passing

Areas he could improve would be finishing and chance creation but for an 18 year old, very impressive!

Barcelona didn't improve as a team based on playing style and tactics. I can't name more than five game where we played good football this season (let me try: copa del rey final 4-0, Juve 2-0 at Turin, Real Sociedad 6-1, PSG Game away for the first 45 mins. and... mhmm). The team grabs points almost every time looking at the clock in the final minutes. We haven't played good football on a consistent basis. A Barcelona team that loses 16-18 points at home needs drastic changes overall.
Should Koeman go? Absolutely. What is he gonna do next season that's different to the current one? He's been outtacticed by rookie Pirlo, Bordal?s, Cadiz coach, and the list goes on.
Big respects and infinite gratitude for grabbing the team on the state we were and leaving the NT coach role to step up to his dream job but the man looks out of his depth.

Should cowman go? NO doubt about it. He is a mediocre coach and never will change as he is incapable to do it. Laporta gtfo this idiot.
