Ronald Koeman

It's worrying because it's coming from Moises Llorens and Sam Marsden who have an impeccable record the last couple of years or so. For me they're S Tier at the moment.

Although of course it might just be more smoke with the current board just leaking names for the sake of it.

Martinez is Setien level or even worse. Also if Laporta wants to sack Koeman he should be upfront about it. This whole fucking charade would put off serious big name candidates. Who would want to work in such a toxic environment?

Seeing rumors about Roberto Martinez I'm in favour of keeping him for another year and figuring it out next summer

Option 1: sack Koeman, pay him 8m (and together with his staff it's up to 15m IIRC but could be wrong), pay Belgian FA 5m or something (I think that's what we've paid to KNVB for Koeman last year) to let Bob go (we'd probably have to wait for him until the end of Euro which is also far from ideal), then also give Martinez and his stuff probably around the same wages that Koeman&Co. are getting now.

Option 2: keep Koeman and invest those 20 something millions in Gaya/Gosens/Lisandro Martinez or just save money for Haaland next year.

It's an easy decision for me.

Even if the payoff is ultimately 13M, spread the payments out which I am sure Koeman will agree to - there's no scenario where he should continue for a reboot

If Bartomeu was still in charge I could definitely see Barca hiring Roberto Martinez. I hope Laporta would have more sense than that.

I see the "Mention candidates worse than Koeman, so we are content with Koeman staying" media leaks has started already.

Would be better off linking us to serious candidates like Allegri and Conte to garner fan reaction.

This better not happen. Thus would be an incredible knee jerk reaction by Laporta to hire Martinez.
I know Koeman is not great but what does Martinez bring to the table.

Martinez relegated Wigan and won the FA Cup in the same season. Koeman finished 3rd and won Copa del Rey in the same season.

Martinez achievement created way more global media brand value and exposure than Koeman's. If Martinez could do the same for Barcelona then we would be the most famous club in world football.

That's about it :coffee:

I think general fan reaction to both would be negative as they're Italians and people usually assume Italian coaches play negative football. This is mostly true in Conte's case (I still believe he's a very good coach and like his passion but you can't build longterm around him imo) but obviously not all Italian coaches are like that. I think Allegri is playing quite positive football, the same for Ancelotti and no need to even talk about someone like Gasperini who is going all out offensively with Atalanta (still wouldn't want him here though - he couldn't deal with Papu Gomez and Josip Iličić at Atalanta, no way he could handle big egos in our locker room). De Zerbi (who has just signed with Shakhtar Donetsk) also played some nice football with Sassuolo.

whats with all the 'if koeman is fired' narrative?! do they need another year to make up their mind?

i call bullshit on this one. guy should have been sacked already if we wanted to go that route.
