Ronald Koeman

Don't blame him for dropping it on Nico. Guy gave him so many chances that he absolutely doesn't deserve and when he blew his assignment letting him through on goal he just jogs back and can't even be bothered to sprint.

Looks like this is exactly what the team had practised too, that Araujo and Pique would press high and it was Nico and Busi's job to cover the backline in case they overextended.

Unfortunately Koeman did not consider he is dealing with 2 lazy lumps when making this plan.

The only lazy lump is Koeman's brain.

He tried with every player possible and with every positioning in the world.

He just is no good.

He is getting Valencia vibes all over again.

He's shit but so is the squad and Xavi or Gallardo or whoever would not do much better. We have a bunch of guys ready to retire, overhyped kids and a few genuinely good players.

What top coach is looking over at their bench and seeing Umtiti, Lenglet, Puig, Demir, Luuk De Jong as their only options off the bench? No top coach is doing that. The squad is not a top-level squad.

We had WORSE back in 2001/2002/2003 and people don't remember how average the likes of Xavi used to be in the middle of very bankrupt LV squad (don't fall for the youtube highlights)

But with proper management we managed to start Ronaldinho FCB, shortly followed an immediate Messi's era take over.

He made a mistake, he's 19 ffs. He should be nowhere near a starting spot against Atletico.

But I honestly can't name a single position anyone of our front 6 played today. We have no structure - Frenkie played what? RW, 2nd striker then midfield? What were Coutinho, Memphis and Gavi doing? False LW, false 9, false RW? Why was Busquets so fucking wide from time to time? Was Nico CM or DM?

We don't have any natural wingers other than Depay and if we are avoiding starting De Jong Depay has to play 9. So his options on the wing are Coutinho/Gavi/Demir/Dest etc, all out of position players who don't make those movements.

Koeman: ?Laporta called me last night and we were talking. At least there is clarity in this aspect. After the break there are 3 games we have to win?

Bartomeu?s parting gift that keeps on giving. Not only did Bartomeu leave the club in a state comparable to that of a sinking and burning oil tanker near Point Nemo desperately calling for help, the painfully obvious and chronic lack of a sporting project became evident once again when the well-informed Xavi Torres recently reported how Koeman?s appointment transpired. Apparently it was Lluis Canut, the current unofficial spokesman of Koeman and close friend of Bartomeu, who suggested to hire Koeman and he was the same person that arranged the first contacts and meetings between Bartomeu and Koeman. Talk about incompetence but not really surprising as absurd as that sounds given the state of the club in the past few years.

Laporta was dealt a losing hand for the ages however it would be a colossal mistake to keep Koeman regardless of the current season being transitional in nature. What seemed unthinkable not long ago (not making the top 4) might be at a great risk of occuring if Koeman does not get the boot. The club?s financial situation has seen better days however that should not be a hindrance to get rid of Koeman. I don?t see an improvement within the ?entorno? of the club as long as Koeman remains at the helm.

The current situation is not comparable to the 2003-04 season, in particular the first part of the season, and Koeman is no Rijkaard. It is naive to expect a similar outcome as during the later stages of that season in question and later the next two seasons (2004-06). A bizarre turn of events within 24 hours when it looked certain that Koeman was getting the axe.
