Comments like this are waste of time. Proper wingers? It's insulting to even Robbery non-fans as I am.
They aren't inside forwards like Ronaldo or Son.

They recieved the ball wide and didn't drift towards the centre off the ball.

Robben used to cut in from wide areas with the ball.

So yes, they were proper modern (inverted) wingers.

I'm not sure what your point is? What are you trying to say? Trolling?

Robben was a more direct and in general goalscoring winger. Ribery was a Figo style wide playmaker who created and did a lot of build up play.

Obviously both could do the other too, but that was the general theme. And why Bayern had so much balance across both sides. They also had full-backs flying forward to support.

Agreed but that's still a different profile of winger to Ronaldo and Son for example, who are inside forwards.

Anyways, my initial point was Robbery weren't elite goalscorers like Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, etc. Robben was a good goalscorer and both were great players though.

Yeah, agree. Ronaldo and Son make more darts inside and off the ball, for balls coming from deeper or wider.

I think Windhook just takes exception to what he thought was you implying that old-school wingers aren't proper wingers. That is not what you meant though, breakdown in communcation.

Just thinking plenty of us on here need to control ourselves with how many threads go off topic and become about other players. The last few pages have nothing to do with R9, really. It happens all over the forum though, and on most forums. Just the way of humanity.

I don't want to say about other things but claiming Lewandowsky's international career is greater than Suarez's is stupid. Lewandowsky disappears in every major tournaments while Suarez led his country to glory and put Uruguay back into World football map. Uruguay were a joke pre 2010. After that they were viewed as one of the best in SA again.

Scoring dozen goals vs some island teams won't fool anyone. Nowadays Lukaku scores more than Pele. Every European strikers will score more than Pele when they have chances to play vs island teams (Haaland soon, Kane soon...). Mean nothing.

Didn't Suarez have a better scoring record for Barca than he had for Liverpool? He scored more when Messi and Neymar(two of the best creators ever) fed him.

Messi in particular is an absolute freak in terms of creating chances and space for his strikers. Suarez should have scored way more goals in his last 2/3 years at Barca. Messi was creating so much for him.
Suarez was only the main goalscorer in 2015/16, especially late season when he competed against Ronaldo for Pichichi. Other than that, he played a supporting role for Messi then Neymar. He was never the first pk taker.

Messi was the main goalscorer (also the playmaker and the dribbler...).

Of course Suarez can only blame himself for wasting Messi's chances and was terrible when it came to scoring in UCL post 2017.

Benzema also played a supporting role. Sacrified a lot for Cr7.
