Juve, PSG wanted Dembele to be a starter
Liverpool wanted Dembele to challenge the front, something that eventually the player they bought instead of him (Jota) did.

Liverpool wanted also Shakiri to be a sub in a limited role.

Yes it happens to be important the role in which the coach wants the player for.
Pity the 'Saul to Liverpool' will not happen, to see how many times Saul will see the pitch ahead of Fabinho, Thiago, and Henderson.

Oh, by the way, even if Saul were to go to Liverpool and play all games next season, this still does not prove that he is a box to box mid, and what Barca lacks

I highly doubt Saul is the player Koeman wanted. More likely it's the best we could get from Atletico and Koeman doesn't mind him.

Thats what i said, average but so is wijnaldum. To me, they are similar in terms of quality, only wijnaldum advantage is playing under klopp in that system and being dutch and familiar under koemann.

If the club is forced to swap griez for saul to get a breather, and koemann is ok with that, meaning saul could be more needed then griezman in his vision, im down with that. Accept the loss, bring 4 years younger player on a lot lower wage. Its not like i wouldnt rather that we sell griez for 60, 70 m or swap for goretzka/kante/lukaku/kessie but considering the circumstances we are pretty stacked offensively even without griezmann and our middlefield depth sounds better with saul in it.
Maybe he flops terribly, but cant see how we can play better/improve with griezmann in squad next season. We aint getting haaland, lukaku or kane so basically he is useless.
