Sergi Roberto

Because he is even worse as an MF. I mean we had 4 coachs pep, tata, lucho, and Valverde and no one thought that Roberto in the midfield could be a good solution.

He lacks the techical qualities and the vision of a Barça MF. Roberto is basically good fitness nothing more.

Roberto played for Barca B when Pep was around, Tata said he very much rated Roberto many times but just couldn't find room to give him minutes, Lucho played Roberto in midfield all the time until Alves left, and Valverde plays him almost everywhere, including midfield.

He started playing RB in Alves last season

It all started in this one preseason when Lucho decided to test Roberto at the right back position, he then had to use him against Bilbao when Alves got injuried in the season opener, that is the only game where Vermaleen was useful to the team.

His first Lucho season he played mainly as Busquets substitute, the second season he was moved to RB as Alves' sub (thanks to Aleix and Barcelona 2015 transfer ban). In one particular El Clasico (0-4 at Bernaleo) he played RW due to Messi's injury. It wasn't really until this spring that he started to show some potential as replacement for the ageing Iniesta.

Roberto seems exceptional at exploiting spaces and carrying the ball forward. I'd like to see him display consistency at a high level, over time, this season. If so, he can certainly compete to be a starter or a regular rotational option for Iniesta's position.

He wasn't a full time RB during that season and was often played in midfield as well. Lucho didn't just drop Alves so he could play Roberto as RB, and Roberto didn't spend most of that season riding the bench either.

Alfredo Martinez says Roberto along with Pique and Deulo are next in line for Contract renewals.

Pique

Would rather he retire early, imagine his pace at 33 years old

I'm more worried about his motivation and concentration. He was never fast but when he was totally focused on football he usually played great. Right now it seems his mind is somewhere else. Don't know where but he needs to get his sh** together. We need him at his best if we want to compete for trophies this season.

Watch the crosses coming from Slowberto's side to Stuani!

Roberto did his crybaby by threatening to quit the club if he don't get enough playing time, he took full advantage of being the people's hero after the return leg against paris.
Better get used to seeing him as RB even if Semedo is way better.

Hope that this rotation with Semedo will not cost us.

Don't thik it's about playing time, were it only about minutes, I'd prefer him playing on the wing rather than a RB position, but it makes sense that it's connected with Semedo's transfer and the money we are supposed to pay after his every 50th match. Hardly does it make sense, though, Roberto playing away matches which are tougher.
