It's kinda funny looking at the leaks from his camp the last couple of months and they're clearly in a panic.

We gave him a choice to renew on our terms and he rejected it. He made the decision to do so because he didn't want to take that big of a pay cut, and he wanted a longer contract duration which is also understandable for his POV. Alemany, Laporta etc were like well that's fine and we moved on.

Fast forward a little bit, Bob ends up getting injured yet again and has to get surgery which would put him out for a long while. Koeman gets replaced by Xavi and things start to change. Alves is signed, we sign the likes Aubu, Adama, Ferran, the likes of Dest also start to play better, Midfield looking much better and overall the team is playing better and better.

Things have changed a lot since the start of the season, that I wouldn't be surprised if he and his entourage thought he was such a key player they could get the likes of Laporta and Alemany to cave but in reality it never happened and it proved he is indeed replaceable. We have moved on and Roberto and his camp ended up losing out big time.

They likely offered him a similar deal to what Busquets and Pique agreed on.

He just overplayed his hand. Probably saw Dest struggling and thought he would be an easy starter, and then all the talk about financial issues for Barca likely also didn't think we'd be able to sign a replacement.

Then he got injured, we signed Alves, proved we can still sign players and Dest gained Xavi's trust.

Time to leave now. There is no room for him at Barcelona anymore.

Sergi Roberto 's representative , Josep Maria Orobitg , has given his version of the controversial renewal of the Bar?a player, qualifying the latest statements by President Joan Laporta. In statements to Mundo Deportivo , the agent, who is also Sergio Busquets , has pointed out that " Laporta 's statements do not conform to reality", that the only firm proposal was directly with the player and that the written conditions did not make reference to what was spoken. Orobitg hopes to redirect the situation and regrets the image that Sergi Roberto is being given .

The agent, owner of the Tactigrup agency , denies that the Bar?a club has sent them three offers since the Bar?a club expressed its desire to extend his contract for one or two more seasons in July. "In August there was a very low counteroffer from the club" and a subsequent meeting with the winger-midfielder himself and President Laporta in which the proposal was outlined. Lol, guy was way overpaid compared to his actual contribution by a dumb board, got a low offer for renewal as he is quite old now, injury-prone, and not every good anyway. He thought he was better than he is, his camp refused it, and now nobody wants him. That's life.

Probably lower than that tbh, and for good reason. No offense, but Pique and Busi at least are tier 1 legends, Roberto is more like tier 3.

Few months back he was linked to City.

No idea why Pep would possibly want him though.

Seems it has gotten to his head that he's some significant asset to the club because the degenerate Barto Maria times, where club was stagnant ready to pay billions to every bum irregardless of their actual contribution. Even his work ethic visibly deteriorated after Luchos tenure. He joined the amigos and had jolly good time with the "nice guy" Ernie, who never said any mean word to anyone for anything. Great men create great times, which in turn creates weak men and decadence.

I don't count Roberto as a Barcelona legend.

He had a legendary moment vs. PSG yes and a couple of awesome performances vs. Real Madrid but that doesn't make you a club legend. You're either one or not in my eyes. Don't like a tier system for it.

Roberto should never be memorialized by the club as a legend. Will have a bad effect on the academy. In no way should we promote "passenger" mentality or you're-not-that-great-but-you-are-at-least-catalan qualities.
