Really should have loaned him out to a mid table La Liga team and kept Denis on the team

No Denis needs constant time, strikers can make on off appearances and score some goals and gain confidence but midfielders need more time i believe to fully grow. Thats why samper isn't being rushed like munir i think.

Is Rafinha injured or something?
Roberto is like the midfield version of Pedro, tries hard but in the end offers little against parked buses.

I think they kept him because the board knows what a two transfer window ban means:(

I think he needs to show more confidence in his own ability and express himself more. He had a great moment tonight when he strode past two challenges under pressure. When he first came onto the scene I remember being impressed with this element of his game. He can move up the pitch with speed and link up well in a direct fashion. Now that he is integrated into the squad he's playing it safe and is trying to be more like Xavi when that isn't really his natural game. The fact that he has been given this contract renewal recently shows that he is rated highly within the club. Even though I don't think he has the talent to start at a club like Barca, I do think it's more of a mental/confidence issue that is the reason for his lack of real progress since he has joined the first team.

Yeah he does have a remarkable ability to just kind of ghost past players without any sort of tricks or anything. I think he has potential he just refuses to use it, i think samper has his number though even if he were to find confidence.

Agreed. He's strong and witty on the ball. I most definitely haven't lost faith in him and watching Rafinha this season so far I really don't think he deserves much more time.

Yeah Rafinha has been a huge disappointment so far, considering he was praised so highly by everyone.

The thing is, Rafinha has shown that he's capable of much, much more during his time at Celta last season. Rafinha is unlucky to have been played out on the wing and with his injuries so far.

Rafinha - Played two matches, only one in his preferred position = 'Huge disappointment', 'doesn't deserve much more playing time'

Sergi Roberto - Played several matches for the first team, has rarely showed that he is good enough at this level = 'Oh, he has huge ability', 'must be confidence issues for why he has stalled', 'he can be the next Xavi' :xavi:

:mou:

One was rated highly in the B Team, the other was not so much.... One had a great season in the top division under this manager, the other has not showed so much whenever he has gotten the chance.... One has played only two official matches and is being written off.... the other has gotten more chances than that, but there are still excuses made for him...

:VdB:

I hope S.R proves many of us wrong though and shows that he can be a decent option for us, but I won't hold my breath. I don't think he is an absolutely rubbish player like some do though, I actually think he is decent and can do very good for another team, but not for Barca. I can't see him becoming more than a rotation option here and with the way players are coming through from La Masia, he is soon gonna lose that place as well unless he really steps up many levels.

As for Rafinha, then im gonna give him the benefit of the doubt considering how well he played for Celta last season. He has only played two official matches for us, only one at his preferred position.

Thing is, everyone expects more from Rafinha because he's the talented one whereas noone really sees Roberto making it here other than being a backup player. Role, which he does adequately so far.

I like Sergi Roberto. He seems to do well with the skillset he has. I never thought he could be a starter for this team in front of the likes of Iniesta, Xavi and Ivan. He could be a decent backup/rotation player though and we need those too! Maybe he should go on loan for a season, but I hope he starts showing some progress soon
