If you win the ball back and then retain possession, you're not out of position.
Lowest number of passes and worst pass % mean nothing. Fails to measure the difficulty of passes, if it was under pressure, and which parts of the buildup and play the passes were completed in.
Trotting out useless stats that don't paint the complete picture. Reminds me of the parable about the blind men and the elephant. Focusing on a small part of the overall, and being stubborn about it.
Actually, having a poor pass accuracy while making a small amount of passes is just fact.
The sad part, which you mentioned, is the actual context. He has been getting SINGLE marked this season by most top teams and it's enough to take him out of the game entirely. He's lazy and slow so he literally stands around and allows himself to be taken out of the game. It's why we have difficulty moving the ball from defense into midfield, it's why we can never attack through the middle, it's why we have zero counter attacking.
On top of it, when he does get the ball, he's poor with it. And enough with the fucking pressing bullshit, once he's out of position he creates a huge hole and let's teams counter us through the middle. It's happened over, and over and over again vs top teams and in CL.
Xavi fails to recognize this and his tactics are trash. The guy cant even get simple things right like Dembele on the left and Raphina on the right for fucks sake.
Also, we looked 1000x better once Busquets was out and Frenkie was in. And Frenkie's not even a DM which makes it only sadder.
