Toure's problem wasn't that we were playing Busi ahead of him... It was that we were playing Keita ahead of him. In his defense though, Toure is/was and will always be a greater BTB mid fielder than Keita ever was! And Toure's mismanaging, along with Ibra fiasco, still remains as one of those situations for which Pep is answerable!!

There wasn't anything wrong with Toure, Pep just wanted a different player for the defensive midfielder role. Toure was very good there but he is a complete player with defensive and attacking abilities, he performs better being used as box to box and its proved in Manchester City. Pep wanted a player to stay back and cover rather than getting up and down the midfield. The very good performances from Busquets after and being the ideal for what Pep wanted found him a place in the line up..

I find that hard to believe given Toure was rarely used as a box to box by Barca. His defensive performances were very good and he was even the make shift centre back and full back if needed.

I think there was a lack of appreciation on Pep's part more than anything else, he even did the same to Eto.

Busquets was largely a substitute and never deserved to start ahead of Toure. What did he have to offer that Toure more didn't have? Perhaps being a La Masia product?

Thats not true at all. Busi started most La Liga matches in the second half of the treble season and he also started most CL matches. He was not largely a substitute. He was fantastic and has proven his incredible quality and consistency ever since he came storming onto the scene as a largely unknown quantity in the fall of 2008. Your attempt to belittle him with making up stuff about him playing solely because he came through La Masia is disgraceful and despicable!

People are unsure about it I guess. If we didnt have such bad results I wonder the reaction would be the same.

It's not even funny anymore to underrate Busi. He's getting more recognition from non-cules after years of being just a diver and cheat.

The guy has almost 60 caps for Spain and has won everything there is to win for both club and country and he just turned 25! People who needed years to recognize his qualities and merely focus on that single game against Inter years ago simply dont understand football tactics and is unable to make proper judgements about players as a result.

The best minds in the game, like Del Bosque, Cruyff, Pep and countless other managers have always praised him and have always appreciated his qualities.

Busquets is a knowledgeable fan, type of player. Same as the Messi vs CR7 deal.

If you have deep understanding of football or have played it, then you are able to appreciate and understand the intricacies and little details of the game. A knowledgeable person can understand the level of superiority of Messi vs CR7, and is able to understand the extraordinary player Busquets is.

However if you don't understand, then you are swayed by physicality because physicality is something you can easily appreciate without much knowledge. Hence why you might feel CR7 is better because he is the clear physical superior player, and hence why you might not understand Busquets over Yaya and Mascherano.
