I have to say on the ball he was quite weak as he lost quite a few balls , but defensively he was unreal I agree. Busquets would be pressing Konate and Van Dijk during a Liverpool counter.

I would rather have a CDM that can break up play consistently and make clutch and important tackles and interceptions than a CDM who is hot garbage at all of that but can play some cute passes.

Need to leave the playmaking to the two other CMs.

RM had 2 CM capable of taking the ball and move it around, it doesn't have to be the DM to do it.
I mean before Busquets it wasn't the DM job to do it for many years, probably the last DM to be responsible for bringing the ball before Busquets was.... wait for it... Xavi himself. Since Xavi actually started his career as CDM before converting to DM.
Motta, Edmilson, Marquez, Davids, and even Yaya didn't have to carry that burden.

Never mind, if you have good fullbacks then you can always start build up sideways.
Plenty of options in 433 tbh, which both teams today played with (more or less) and both didn't have a DM carrying the ball.
