If they actually still think that after a season of having seen Nico with the first team, then we need to find new technical staff.

They are nothing like each other and have totally different strengths.

Who talks about them having the same strengths? Neymar was seen as the natural successor to Messi and they are nothing alike :p

The only question is whether he can be an effective pivot or not.

Nico is not even starter level for a team aspiring for CL places. Them having similar traits or weaknesses doesn't matter.

If Xavi is going to experiment then now is the time. Didn't give any signs during the past season though.

I think Kessie will be more suitable though.

To be fair 20 years old there is still plenty of time to develop. The problem is you actually need consistent minutes to do that.

As time went on, Xavi seemed less sure of him. Bit weird they blocked his loan move to be honest.

How many players have you seen at 20, that were nothing much and then exploded to become very good players?

It usually happens the other way around - wonderkids that show immense potential, fail to continue progressing.

Busquets himself was in B team at 19/20 and club thought little of him before Pep arrived.

Pique at 21 was nowhere near as rated as highly as would become.

There are a ton of examples.

Araujo was 21 and still in B team and folk thought he was average and likes of Todibo better.

I think Nico showed loads of potential .. lovely touch , some real nice skillz and not scared of putting his foot in .. all that when the team was struggling somewhat

Both Busquets and Pedro came out of nowhere didn't they really until Pep coached them for a year with Barca Atletic/B. Back then the likes of Victor Vazquez were being touted as the next big thing and he fell off a cliff.

Drogba didn't play the highest level in France until he was 24, Kante too at 23. But one thing you need is consistent game time to develop properly.

Busi was known to be outstanding from the youth squads. Pedri proved himself quickly.

Drogba and Kante are not enough as examples to prove a point. More like exceptions.
