If money is shared throughout the league, I think it would be a great idea. This would force clubs to have youth academies. I must say that Barca would be at a 2 decade reign if such a thing does occur because our youth is immense while our main rival is forced to solely buy.

sorta a dumb comment. EPL clubs despite sharing money (which is not really shared equally also), you dont see English clubs developing players.

balancing money sorta equally in EPL has not helped clubs at all, it has massively inflated the wages received by their players. thats it. check out wages/revenue ratio for clubs, many clubs run into 80% and above. where the hell are you guys getting your ideas from?

also do you guys understand that despite equal sharing idea, the distributed money always favor the top teams because their matches are covered more.

Premier League is financially balanced and fairly stable footballwise with some sings of sheikh money causing little upsets.
La Liga is both football and financial shithole with two clubs taking advantage of the league's level to get even more prestige.

You do realize that 3 English leagues are in top15 attendance over the season statistics? That is three, not just EPL, Championship is 7th and League-1 13th. Now look at Spanish Segunda and their non-quality.

And I'm not a Premier League fan, that's the way things are.

Erm, financially balanced and financially stable? really?

I guess that explains why EPL clubs have so many underwriters.

I was talking about more how they do it in sports here in the U.S. You don't often see the same teams winning the championship in any American sport mainly due to such things as salary cap and more power from the association rather than the clubs.

Salary cap idea does not work for football to be honest because you will get teams like Osasuna with no commercial or matchday income, paying highly inflated salaries to their players. Basketball players have a higher mean in wages than footballer players (even more so when you look at La Liga case). This is key to knowing why American system does not favor football. In US, you have a handful of teams compared to the hundred different clubs per league in La Liga/EPL/Serie A. How would that be balanced?

Also US fans do not have the same political, and passionate attachment to their sports teams like football fans do in Europe and thus, these traditionally supported clubs will always have more fans than relative unknowns. Even players for example dont have much attachment to their teams in US hence their moves are typically dominated by monetary gains, I bet you that wouldnt be the case in Europe because for the former example that I had mentioned, leading to top players accepting less salary in order to play for a team that they grew up supporting.

Football shit hole? Are you serious? In the last 10 years La Liga 4 Europa Leagues compared to 1 for the premiership. The strength in depth is there and will be getting better. It's just that Barca are hitting an amazing high and are way beyond even Man U.

We are talking about league not European level.

And besides it's always the same teams from Spain that go into Europe anyway, unlike in England.

The premier league is obviously the most competitive league in europe, you have 6 clubs all of whom have the financial muscle to compete for the title and also be serious in the champions league. The only solution to the gap in la liga between 2 teams and the rest is for rich billionaires to go in there and splash the cash at the lower down clubs, either that or the spanish fa need to be much more generous in spreading the money more fairly. Teams like Valencia, A.Madrid, Seville who should be the teams competing with the top two are going nowhere really, they are miles away from being able to compete and constantly sell there star players elsewhere, a.madrid have gone further backwards by selling de gea and aguero, valencia have lost another star player. Fans of Barca and Madrid always seem to take offensive when someone from outside criticises the situation, obviously they are content with the lack of competition in the league, but the longer that two teams sit so far ahead of the rest then interest in the division will go down, attendances and tv revenues will go down, so its in the interest of the top two to help bring the other teams closer to them.

You should check the definition of competitive. You already know who the top 6 teams in the league will be, this is all but competitive, couldn't be any more boring and predictable. The only top league in Europe that remains competitive is the Bundesliga. In all the others, it's same faces at the top every year, and it will only aggravate as the richer get richer and the poorer get poorer.

Saying the PL is competitive is wishful thinking at best. The league (like La Liga) represents everything that's wrong with modern football, with the same teams dominating year after years and no real competition. There's nothing competitive in knowing who the top 6 will be before the league even kicks off.

well its certainly more competitive then la liga, having 6 teams capable of pushing for the title and taking points off each other is better then 2 teams on there own at the top, thats the point i was making, but i agree with your other points...........

Wolfe stop talking shit. You clearly dont know much about Spanish football.

Teams that were eligible for Champions League from Spain since 2001- Barcelona, Real Madrid, At. Madrid, Sevilla, Villarreal, Valencia, Mallorca, Deportivo, Celta Vigo, Betis

Teams that were eligible for Champions League from England since 2001- Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool

Spain had more participants. And to further highlight the ridiculousness of your statement, before Sheikh, top 4 never changed in England (bar one awesome season for Spurs) whilst it always did in Spain. Each year, you found new candidates for the CL qualification.

Do you even watch La Liga or just make up stuff in your head?

Edit- i keep on finding more spanish teams that have been eligible for CL

I think the top clubs like barcelona, real madrid, manchester united, ac milan, inter milan, bayern munich will always be the biggest clubs regardless of what uefa, fifa or even what the individial FA's try to do, i believe the only solution is a european super league, put all the european giants in one league and let them fight it out together. You can keep la liga, epl, serie a etc, but the teams in those divisions will be fighting it out to be promoted to the super league and the team that finish bottom in the super league go back to there domestic league.

Grr, I forgot about Newcastle and Everton for EPL and Osasuna for La Liga.

Either way, the dominance of 2 teams in La Liga is happening at a stage where Barcelona has found absolute gems in their youth systems and Real Madrid is cashing in on its commercial appeal.

Both clubs shouldnt be blamed for doing this. And I honestly wish that people would spend some time researching La Liga before commenting on the league.

well, I know the top 20 teams in each league, should I consider myself as an oracle or something? :p Would you tell me the exact ranking? Well, I can tell you that the top 7 are known in La Liga before it started (Barca, Real, Valencia, Atletico, Malaga, Sevilla, Bilbao and Villarreal ;)
