so is la liga being less competitive? levante and sociedad showed that problems with Real madrid and Barcelona can be exploited.

as soon as managers give up their defeatist attitudes when they face Barcelona and Real madrid, we have a really good league.

I'm not sure what it says that Barca or Madrid either completely blow out their opposition or struggle, never anything in between. Both clubs are developing senses of entitlement that are going to hurt massively in Europe.

But as of right now things are a lot more interesting in La Liga than the EPL. One thing about Spanish clubs is what they lack in financial resources they make up for in a great talent pool. The level of coaching in this league is exceptional, and there's more teamwork.

thats what i am talking about. Real and Barcelona are feeling more and more entitled in this league. in a way, they have stopped looking at others as a challenge and have focused on each other. its so easy for opposition coaches to exploit that. real should have had 3 sending offs- all due to petulance of pepe, di maria and khedira.

la liga is much better than epl right now. man utd have already blown away their competitors whilst barcelona and real struggle away from home. real were sorta shit against getafe as well, major luck factor worked for them there.

3 rounds done and who is the number 1 team? valencia with soldado being the joint top scorer... yeh... who would have guessed that.

Not to mention Man United are not half the team Barcelona and Real are.

Yet they seem to be able to score 5 goals almost at will against 90 percent of PL teams.

Levante and Sociedad probably showed that Real Madrid and Barca are human beings, and they can have their bad day also...... like Hercules in the last season.... but what after ? Barca and Madrid crushing every opponent with no mercy, and gaining points that would crown them both champions in any other league in the world..... silly.

But then again, to me La Liga is not showing signs of worsening..... instead, with clubs going out there and playing with the bias "we've got nothing to loose", it's more competitive than ever.

Del Nido should have been supported much more from the La Liga clubs that also suffer from the terrorizing tandem, Barca and Real. It's not fair overall. Del Nido made a great point, and was one of few that stood up for his points..... which are nothing but reality in today's Spanish football.

Though, everyone knows and understands the right of the clubs to protect their own economy and business plans, revenues etc. But come on..... why should this happen only to La Liga ? If the same problem would persist in Premier League, things would have been different. But La Liga is the only top league in the world that has this huge difference in tv revenues and economy itself, compared to the other clubs. Pretty unfair.

And the worst thing probably is that Barca and Real are not only top clubs and the best ones in La Liga, but also in the whole world. Who would be silly enough to disagree that Barca and Real are not the 2 best clubs in the world ? Man Utd might battle with Madrid for the second place, but hey, still top 3, in the whole world !

I am so confused by your points. Its like arguing for both sides...

which about sums up the whole problem in La Liga right now.

Barça and Madrid are demonstrably awesome, and would do this to any league in the World.

but that dominance is getting mixed up with the financial inequality issue because these fuckhead presidents use it as an excuse when their team is beaten to ensure they don't lose face with the fans.

fixing Spain's horrible TV deal WILL NOT make Barça any less awesome, and may even fail to pull Madrid back that much.

that's not to say the TV deal doesn't need fixing, but for the right reasons. and only once La Liga itself has gotten its shit together with proper scheduling, courses for club execs to teach them how to market and brand themselves (why do so many clubs not have sponsors?!), and of course, a sporting penalty for going into Administration so these presidents don't embezzle/waste money and then just sink the club into bankruptcy to get out of debt.

Really old thread but I was looking for a wee bit of an insight from those more knowledgable than myself regarding a few things. Through several discussion with friends we were talking about the likelihood of any team being able to challenge Barca and Real in La Liga. With Falcao certain to leave it appears that anytime any team starts to build with genuinely quality players, they are taken quickly. The same happens everywhere I suppose, look at Dortmund, but could a team genuinely challenge for La Liga? I've heard that the World's Richest man, from Mexico I believe, wants to take over Getafe and some Costa Rican wants to buy Valencia. Now I'm sure others would know more about that as I'm going on what friends say. But is that the only way any team ever has a chance of matching the top 2?

The world's richest man (Carlos Slim) bought a large share in Real Oviedo IIRC

Maybe he'll buy JDS for 30 million :tito:

I predicted in 2009 that no la liga team outside of Barca or Real will win la liga in the next ten years. I stand by my prediction.

Thank you very interesting read. It is true of all leagues to an extent but La Liga, like the SPL, the gap seems so big. For any side in a top league to make it big it is going to take large investment.
