Mascherano will hopefully take up LB. Sounds weird seeing as he's done well in CB but against the bigger, more physical players (Ronaldo, Drogba) he seemed to have been bullied out of the game. He's a very capable replacement for Abidal.

Why not? What qualities does he lack? We've seen his ability to get forward (not like Puyol vs Vallecano, but still) and pick a pass improve as of late. With work, I don't see why not. I've always fancied him as a LB/RB.
