Thiago Silva

I don't think there would be a problem in getting Silva to want to come here, he's already said positive things about Barca & yes there's that high tax issue in France. The only real obstacle would be getting PSG to sell.

Silva's wage bill would be massive along with the transfer fee and negotiations with PSG would be an impossible mountain to climb. Being a rising club, they will not want their key players leaving especially if they have to endure watching Ancelotti run off to Real Madrid.

I ended up adding more to my post, and I agree.

Any chance Thiago Silva might be slightly more inclined now that fellow Brazilian Neymar is on the team? I know I'm being hopeful but I worry about the defense. Please sign a CB or two, Tito.

And anyway, not sure how realistic it would be though in the end... 50m transfer budget - 28 for Neymar = 22m left. Even after selling Valdes (who we probably won't get a whole lot for since it's his last year in contract anyway) we wouldn't be able to afford him. If we were selling Alexis we would but it looks like he's staying. We probably aren't selling Cesc either. So maybe one of Villa or Pedro will go, but we have to buy a new gk so we will probably go for a less expensive CB (maybe two) with what we have left.

Guys don't go on management keep repeating that transfer budget is only 50 millions becasue it's not. That is said like that so any selling club wont ask tooooo much for their player. It's just negotiation techniques.Clubs at level of barcelona definatly spend 100 millions in summer without affecting their finance books.

I remember Manchester city's sporting director's words that whenever club heard that their player wanted by manchester city, player's value got sky rocketed upward.

WE HAVE ONLY ONE PROBLEM IS GETTING PSG SELL SILVA.
money is not problem for us.I mean not crazy money but 40-45 is ok for us.

And you have to remember that also transfer money divided in every year i mean if 28 million for neymar than we paying that money for next 3-4 years not all upwards(depends on agreement). So money is not problem.

1.Gotten hit with injuries last season.
2.Last season his form was way down.
3.Not sure how he will cope this season
4. at 29 year of age, you don't expect him to have the same pace as he had at 24-25.
5. There is a chance of him having future bad season too. (there is a history of brazillians loosing there form at 28-29(when they should be at their peaks)) Recent examples: Ronaldinho, Kaka, adriano (striker),Maicon, alvez had below power season too, thiago silva just had his first season witnessed by all of us.

Spending anything above 23-25 m on such a player is not at all good. PSG won't sell on that price so less look for some potential world beater.
I don't know how many times we will be wasting our cash of past champions and paying high amount for 2-3 season they play with us and then we sell them for another such players. We did the same to henry, villa, gudgejonson.

he is a defender not forward, 29 is his peak and I would assume he has another good 3-4 years at least.

Silva would be a dream. But I think that it is impossible for us to sign him this summer. But I still hope that we can trade him for Pedro/Alves and maybe 15 million. Would be the very best for our defence!

mmmhhh i dont know about this one, there are so few world class defenders now, but i guess anything better than what we have now will be okay. But spending more than 20mil on him really is a waste for me.

If we can buy him for a price btw 30 and 40 million, Let's go !!!!
Sandro shown that he knows how to buy an "expensive" player. I believe in him knowing that he can convince Thiago Silva to join.

Imagine that line-up :
--------- Ter Stegen ----------
Alves - T.Silva - Puyol - Alba
Thiago - Busquets - Iniesta
Alexis - Messi - Neymar

Puyol is finished I'm afraid. Silva would be his successor.

I certainly believe Silva is a player who could take any team's defense to another dimension, but my brains are saying that 40m for a 28-years old injury-prone defender are still too much.

I hope that is true. But my only point was. Paying 40 is a very risky deal. Max 25 m on such a player is more than enough. And as PSG might not want to sell on that price, we should look for other options.
