Thierry Henry

Visca el filòsof!
You have the audacity to call him a class act? If a cheater like Henry is a class act then the standards of humanity are even lower than I expected.

He did confess though. And besides, did you guys rage over Messi's handball too?
It's even better that France came through, they have better chances than Ireland. Feel sorry for Trapattoni though.

I still don't fucking get it. Where are these cries when C Ronaldo or Rooney dives and gets another penalty?

I certainly don't think one has anything to do with the other...If we're comparing, CR is a far bigger wanker for his on pitch antics, diving & simulation...But has nothing to do with what Henry did

Ugh how ridiculous. Henry didn't cheat. Handballs are part of the game and are addressed by very simple rules. The players are aware of the consequences. What Henry did happened in a split second. The referee didn't judge it. The rules were there, but not the enforcers. Handballs are the easiest thing to spot and Henry would be stupid to think he could get away with it, and before the match decide that at some point he will handle the ball and help set up a goal. He didn't deceive the referee by diving - that's cheating. He didn't fake and injury, he didn't kick the goalkeeper when the referee wasn't looking. He did something that is such a spontaneous action, so hard to decide, there was so much at stake and he had a split second to choose - it's really horrible that the referee didn't judge and the linesman didn't see. Therein lies the true fault.
I don't like the French NT and I hate it when they qualify. But it's unfair that so much criticism is going towards Henry because of this, it's all driven by the English and irish press, you can see that even Duff who was being very rational was putting fuel on the flames by likening it to the Maradona situation, which would piss lots of English people off. People are judging Henry unnecessarily harshly.

Confess?...lol, ok...Was he gonna deny it when it was clear for everyone to see (Except, apparently, the ref)?...Not sure he deserves kudos for 'coming clean'

As for Leo's handball, it was bad too...Just didn't determine the win in a competition or see a side qualify for something as big as the WC

It's even better that France came through, they have better chances than Ireland. Feel sorry for Trapattoni though.

As long as Domenech is running the 'show' there, I can't agree...France looks a mess but that too is off topic

Barçapocalypse NOW!
Hahahaha, this is hilarious... Sure, it was a hand ball, deliberate or not the play should be illegal... But the referee didn't blow the whistle, so what's a football player to do? It's easy to say he should have confessed to the ref, but in a game with the blood boiling and just a few minutes away from qualifying to the world cup (in a very close match), I doubt any player or any of us would go to the ref and ask kim to take back the goal, so that morality thing is very subjective, anyone who has played this game knows that sometimes all that is in a player mind is winning and while this surely doesn't justify his actions, it should help to avoid the exaggerated proportions of this incident, especially as we see "cheating" in every football match week in week out: players diving, faking hits to the face, harassing the refs, etc. So it all comes down to being a crucial match, had this been a match between to mid-table teams in the austrian league and it would be the funny story of the week that everyone would laugh about... I know what to be enraged by a bad call of a ref, but that's football, I guess...

According to those rules, he cheated indeed. He did something against the rules of football. Regardless of the ref noticed it. It's easy, it's a fact. Henry knows it as well.

Whether you feel he should get the stick or not or the game should get consequences is something else. But he did cheat.

I don't think he cheated. I think he instinctively put his hand out and when he connected first time it was like "oh crap hand ball", second one he probably thought "might aswell play to the wistle", pass it to Gallas..

It's all down to the ref IMO. Henry can throw the ball into the goal, if it's given it's not his fault. The ref should make the call. Plus the linesman was a blind crap btw. I can't belive he never saw it..

Henry's celebration was stupid. He just contradicted himself by consoling Richard Dunne and having a picnic with him at the end. A bit stupid IMO. He should have talked to the ref after the goal, then it would have been completely on the refs decision.

Henry should be ashamed of himself, it's clear as daylight that he deliberately did it. Just saw it in the news highlight. What is he thinking! France must be desperate then.

Ha Ha Ha Love it Cule.

The way i see it It's really harsh on the Irish who were far the better team and diserved to go to the world cup. But i don't blame Henry. If it would have been Robbie Keane who handled the ball and sent the Irish through would he have ran to the ref saying "sorry but i handled the ball, disallow the goal"? Ofcourse not. And he'd have to live with the brand of being a cheat. Just as Henry will now have to.

Henry was wrong. Ofcourse he was. But that's how cruel football can be. The fault lies directly with the ref and his assistants. I'm all in favour of video technoligy for these major decisions. Not for everything but for the really big calls like this a video replay would only take 30 seconds and would clear it all up.

P.S. This is my favourite picture of Henry. Doing what he does best

oK time to get over this bullshit that Henry is a "cheat" because he is far from a cheat!

A cheat is CONALDO, who does these kinds of things every week!
Ronaldo scored a goal last season with hes hands, although wasn't aloud an was givin a straight red! but no1 seems to give a fuck about that incident, if the ref did hes job properly we would NOT be in this situation where every fucker believes Henry is a cheat! because he is far from a cheat
