RM should get rid of Xabi now

Xabi was great for Real Madrid last season. He was very, very important for them. Modric, Kroos cannot replace him. It might sound strange for some people considering how much he suck with Spain, but he is an integral part of their team and an important piece of the puzzle which is making Real Madrid function fully and to their best, atleast he was last season.

If Di Maria is gone and they don't make arrangements to replace him (i.e just playing Kroos-Modric in front of him) then Alonso will be exposed for the declined has-been that he is. Xabi's entire role for RM was being the static figurehead of the defensive structure (i.e pretty much just sitting in front of the defense, allowing for more space to be covered, and providing tackles whenever the opposition played into his area). He had players in front of him that do a LOT of defensive work to slow down the opposition or make things difficult before they reached him and the defense.

Kroos on the other hand is no Di Maria and doesn't provide nearly the same amount of defensive support. On the flip-side, he'd slow down their play and give them a more lethargic buildup which eventually (as we've seen with Barca) opens a team up for counters. They commit more men forward in a slower manner, Kroos can't create space and does a lot of pointless sideways passing under pressure, and eventually they lose the ball and get crushed on the counter. And we saw how bad Xabi is in those situations with Spain.

He may be average to some, but in this particular match he was almost perfect, that is hard to deny...

Come on, you know what i mean. Some people here belittle his performances for no reason.

He's not as inconsistent as some here say he is.

I like Toni Kroos. But if Real plan on replacing Di Maria with him, I don't see it working out very well. I will say this, if he were going to play for us, he's not worth his salary demands.
