Why not just offer Adriano to PSG instead of Alves then?

Offer him + cash for T Silva.

Alves is worth more, I'm pretty sure there are teams that would pay 30 mil for Alves.
If we offer them 20 mill plus Alves, they would probably accept it, but if we offer them Adriano and 20 mil, then they would either ask for more money (45 mil+Adriano) or they would just simply reject it as Adriano is not good enough or big enough name if you know what I mean.

Because Alves is worth much more, which means we could spend less cash. Also, because Adriano is extremely versatile. If we're going to lose one of our fullbacks, it's best to lose Alves.

Seriously, at this moment, I prefer Adriano to stay.

Also if we would swap Adriano+cash for Silva, the more cash will be needed.

Sure I do understand, but im not a very big fan of getting rid of Alves right now.......

Hopefully someone is dumb enough to offer 15-20m for Adriano so we can get rid of him.

He is extremely injury prone too.

Anyway I hope he stay injury free and does well for us in the upcoming season.

I'm like the only person on this forum who doesn't want to sell Alves.
Alves has always been wrongly accused of almost every defensive error. The many fickle & clueless users on this forum still don't understand that he's instructed to play how he plays. He's shown in the past that if he's been asked to look over his shoulder more, he's a brilliant defender as well. People will realise just how much of a key player he is if/when he leaves.

Yes... and I presume he's also instructed to make dozens of useless crosses in each game, not to shoot ever (EVER!) even if he's in a perfect position, and not to contribute to the attack in any other way whatsoever 90% of the time, other than moving around on the right?

I am sure most people would agree about him being phenomenal for Barcelona.

The problem is that the team looks to have lost some balance with two attacking full backs, neither of whom are brilliant defenders or have defending as their first thought.

Out of the two it makes more sense for Alves to go than Alba.

He is a legend though and people should remember all he has done for the club and not act as if he is some player the club should be lucky to get rid of.

In a shock deal, Barcelona will make a deal of Alves plus 20m for Zlatan. Vilanova has said that while Zlatan had his issues in the past, he is the perfect CB and already has a good partnership with Pique.[MD]

:tito:

(this is just satirical so please don't delete it as it's obviously not true)

I agree with this, but he's been shit in attack this year as well.

His attacking was even worse than his defending this year. I don't think he's instructed to make hundreds of pointless crosses.

I respect Alves for his talent and for what has accomplished at Barcelona. However, I'd be all for putting him on the market to the highest bidder. The club could easily fetch a significant fee for him, and it makes sense given his age and the fact La Masia has produced a replacement in Montoya. The funds could be used to help build the defense in more important areas.

Alves is not as important under Vilanova as he was for Pep. Alves was always best in the high pressing game, and Vilanova is more content to sit off. Guardiola's answer to defensive problems was to push even higher, press more. Tito is much more conventional and pragmatic. With no Pep, Alves' best is behind him for this club.

If you remember the home match against Milan, Messi played on the RW and had the freedom to roam. He still scored his goals centrally but when he roamed there wasn't a void up front. Villa kept the defense occupied allowing Messi to do whatever he wants. With a beast like Lewandowski up front he would be more than a distraction.

+1 Can't understand why management/Messi don't get that this is the best formation.
