Luiz has been massively overrated after the Confederations Cup. Other than that, his good performances were as a DM and not as a CB. Not to mention the fact that he wasn't even doing well with a double pivot in front of him to cover, imagine how bad he'd be in a thin, attack minded defensive system as ours. Very little discipline and total recklessness, polar opposite of what we need (stability and security, a reliable CB)

If Luiz were to come, he signing would be either boom or bust, no in-between. With his charisma, technique, flair, and actual quickness and pace, I could easily seeing him become a fan favorite. He's also a good leader. Still, although he's vastly improved over the last year, he'll still doesn't always make the best decisions. Combine that with Pique's lack of focus and things could get ugly.

But, purely from a physical standpoint (and ability to play our possession style), the only other CB, sans Silva, that I'd say fits with Pique better is Ramos; and that ain't happening.

I'd also like to mention that this guy seems to up his play 10-fold when the big lights come on (CL Final 2012, Confed Cup Final). Maybe having Puyi as mentor would be good for him and let this thing work?

ok guys the following statements are not by me, i got a dude in spain whos has contacts to several people close to barca
heres what he told me (i dont guarantee theyre real, but seems logical to me)

-David Luiz is no option for barca too "attack" minded, too expensive
-theres no list of options as published by different newspapers
-barca still looking for "the" cb, new coach apparently prefers someone from southamerica or seria A (italia)
-staff prefers someone with a name, vilanova was obsessed with thiago silva, but never ruled out other options, never mentioned adriano at cb
-only option from england is daniel Agger, but barca wont overpay that much, a number about max 29mil. floating
-tata impressed by marc bartra, highly possible he will increase his playing time

I agree, imagine if we get exposed, this man can make easy mistakes and that could be proved costly.

He did well in defence for Chelsea last year , benching no less than John Terry .

Hope this is not correct . Bartra. !!?

I'm guessing Tata hasn't been shown the recent footage of Bartra in action, YET.

I'd rather spend a fortune on Ramos and Cassilas , solve all our problems in an instant .

Mistakes can be made by anyone.

One man does not cost you a title. It's about how the eleven of them get the results.

I would go with Luiz.
