Hey, its just ppl's opinions; its a discussion forum. Do you want to tell us all what you'd like to see and for us to fall in with what you want.

We might need a Gk, BUT we DO need at least one CB BEFORE anyone else.

Barca's main problems have not been in attack, or midfield; its whan a team parks the bus and hits us on the break, or scores a header from a corner or free kick.

A fast CB with good aerial ability should be the FIRST type of player we buy. VV's contract runs out next year, so we could have him play it out if neccessary.

I said nothing about people expressing their opinions and wishes. My comment was on your last sentence, it felt funny to read like it's a Playstation game and you can have any player in your team.

4. Chiellini
5. Vertonghen
6. Inigo Martinez
7. Marquinhos
8. Hummels

Pique and Rafa Marquez were excellent together in 2008 until Rafa got injured again and was never the same afterwards. Both of them are similar, although Rafa could play as a stopper and do the dirty work. I'm not saying Hummels would be the best partner but it wouldn't necessarily be a disaster either.

Whoever denied the signing of Verthongen last year, should pay half of the transfer see this summer.

 Some of you need to get your head out of the clouds. Anyone who watches Dortmund would know that Pique and Hummels would not make a great partnership or solve too many problems that we have in defense AND Hummels isn't really "the best defender in the world". Is he an option? Yes. But you (and the club for that matter) should not limit yourselves to thinking about simply the most popular players or big names. There is no way it should already be decided that Hummels is coming because there are many other options to consider.

Also, it's pretty much out of the question to suggest we'll get Neymar+Hummels+Any other big name goalkeeper. Honestly I see Neymar coming this or next summer, a CB this summer, and a GK next summer. And still, I definitely don't see the club spending that much on star players. We have an amazing cantera with brilliant youngsters coming through and some of you need to remember that.

Hi, new on the forum :barca scarf:

I have to agree with DonAndres on this one, im not so sure Hummels would be the ideal choice for us. Sure, he could give us a massive aerial boost in both defense and attack, he's a really solid defender and he's good on the ball. On the other hand, he is probably one of the most expensive defenders out there at the moment, and we really lack pace in the back atm.
Marquinhos could be an option, he is fast and agile and he's been terrific for Roma this season. He's very Thiago Silva'ish in his style of play. But he's probably too young to become an instant starter for barca, and i would rather have Bartra get his chance. Another option could be Luis Gustavo. He's got a good height, fast, agile, good on the ball and he's very versatile. I've mostly seen him play CDM but he has played CB and LB aswell. I especially remember his performance vs RM in last years CL. He shouldn't be too expensive neither. Not sure if Bayern are willing to let him go tho. :detective:

Welcome to the forum :)

First post, and a great one at that. The only thing that is criminal about the Marquinhos signing is that we need one NOW but I'm not sure how comfortable the coaches would be putting such pressure on an 18 year old. If he was about 2-3 years older when this was happening, I would be jumping out of my seat waiting for it to happen (even then I would still want him now regardless of his age just because he has such a great future upside). I don't really know about Bartra getting his chance. We've waited and waited yet he still seems to spend most of the time watching the game from the stands and not even making the preliminary match squad, let alone the bench or the starting lineup. He was a good player when he played, but there's gotta be something that is making him unable to be trusted by the coaches. Maybe it's his own confidence level perhaps.

My Basque/Spanish side makes me kind of over-excited about getting Inigo Martinez. But even my bias aside , he would make a hell of an option considering his various talents, style of play, and the fact that he can fit in with ease because of his nationality. However I seem to be one of the few who put him as one of the first choice options.

Gustavo is a great player but once again we'd be converting a somewhat versatile CDM into a CB. From what our struggles have warranted, I don't think we can afford to settle for any temporary solution as we need someone rock solid and a true leader at back for many more years (like Puyol). If Gustavo were to come cheap, he would be a really great utility signing due to his versatility at so many positions. The only problem I see is that I think he wouldn't come cheap as the Bavarians are impossible to buy from :p

Please no Luiz, Vermaelen or Agger. Don't know much about Rakitskiy. I'd be fine with any of the others.

I really hope the Kompany rumors have some credibility, though it's extremely unlikely...
