I agree. Just imagine if one of those 3 are signed Alex Song at CB seems to me a better option than Vermaelen or Agger

Kompany ,Luiz aren't realistic options tbh , there clubs won't let them go
Agger , Vermaelen aren't good options specially with their history with injuries
That leaves us with Hummels,Vertonghen,Inigo Martinez,Marquinhos, Rakitskiy
All seems good options,Hummels still my favorite tbh

I had a "discussion" with a journalist a few years back going on and on about how Agger was world-class and that Piqué wasn't and this BS. I obviously disagreed. A few years later my opinion still stands - Agger is an amateur.

Germans are great at picking up other languages from what I've come across, particularly English...I do like Hummels but again, I just don't see it happening nevermind unsure whether he's really the right partner for Piqué

Yeah, take a look at Khedira and Ozil. Language is not an issue at all.
I don't see Hummels working well with Pique either. They are way too similar.

At first I wanted Hummels. Still would like if he was signed, but my favorite now is Vertonghen. Inigo Martinez would also be a good option. I just don't want Vermaelen, Agger or D Luiz.

I think there a difference. Both Özil and Khedira can at least interact with each other. Whereas Hummels (should he join) would be on his own.
