Hummels would be much more expensive than Verthongen, I reckon. He's a more high-profile player, he's more experienced, he's got a long-term contract and he plays for a much bigger club.

Why do you guys think we will get any of Silva,Kompany,Verthongen or Hummels?
Hummels is the most probable choice,if it is true that he said he would go to Barca,Silva and Kompany no way in hell, why would PSG/City let theyre best defenders go?
And i doubt Verthongen will go after just one season at Tottenham,he fits in well, looks happy and is worshiped there, plus he would be expensive considering he came to Spurs only last summer
Those are just wishes. I know we'll end up with Guaita/Reina and Vermaelen/Agger/Skrtel.

I don't think he'd cost too much more to be honest. Levy doesn't sell cheap and considering Vertonghen only arrived last year and has had such a good season, it would probably have to be an offer of around €25 million at least to make him even consider letting him go. Hummels would probably be around €30 million?

But why would they accept a 30m bid? Especially when they'll be forced to sell Lewandowski. They won't want to lose two key players.

The same way Alexis and others forced their moves. If a player really wants to move to club X they can make it happen.

Remember the Modrić saga? He didn't leave until the very last days of the transfer window, and until Madrid agreed to a fee. Cesc's transfer was also a drama, the club paid huge money and Cesc took a paycut. In both these cases, for example, a huge fee was paid all the same. As much as it fits our theory, Silva couldn't have just said "I want to go to Barca" and actually have done it. Even if he had really really wanted to, I doubt it would have happened. (without Barca paying the price) Milan sold Silva and Ibrahimović for incredible figures because they needed the money. No paycut to Silva's salary would compensate for the figures that Milan wanted, and Milan wouldn't have sold him for less.

Ye there's no doubt that they'll be reluctant. If Hummels finds out that we want him though he will probably ask to leave. I doubt they would deny him the chance to join Barca and would probably accept an offer of 30-35 million. They would be losing two key players but they would also be bringing in a lot of money to go back out into the transfer market with. Personally, I would love to see Dortmund hang onto all of their players and cement their place as a real power in Europe and I'm sure that is their wish but sadly it doesn't work out that way a lot of the time.

Actually there is a very good chance that Verthongen would cost more ,this is the way Tottenham sell

They've already made their peace with losing Lewandowski and are settled, no matter if he leaves this transfer window or on a free next season.

As for Hummels, we'll see. I don't think he'd fit in, as I have stated before, and he'd be overpriced. Much rather break in Bartra properly.

Not really, they still want him to sign a new contract. He's reportedly been given until May to sign a new contract, otherwise he's out. It'd take no less than 40M euros to get Dortmund to sell Hummels IMO.

Zorc said that they are prepared if he leaves, that's what I meant;sorry if I phrased it wrong.

40m for Hummels is way too much.

Agree. We can get Inigo Martinez for around 1/4 of that price, and he fits our defense and compliments Pique better than Hummels. Could be an Alba-like bargain. Buy Martinez relatively cheap and spend the remaining cash on a quality GK, provided Valdés is sold, and a quality forward (Neymar, Aguero).

Aren't Dortmund looking at Negredo (€18m) as a replacement for Lewandowski?

I'm not sure. I think there's a strong chance that they will get Dzeko.

Yeah, that could happen. I don't Man City will get anywhere near the £27/€32 fee that they paid for him. On a side note it's gonna interesting/kinda funny to see how Man City go about their transfer business the summer. Not only will they be trying to get a few transfers in, but they will have to create space for them in their squad. They might have to take quite a hit on some of the fees they've paid for players (Dzeko & Nasri) and may have to pay quite a high percentage of their wages to do so (like the Adebayor transfer). All the time while trying to comply with FFP and the home-grown player rule.
