Transfers and Rumours - old thread

The press here is saying he is a representative from Barça. Many respected newspapers. Either he's saying he is, or he is, I have no idea. Neymar's agent is Wagner Ribeiro.

Reading more on it, it seems that he is a Barcelona official in charge of South America who is a close friend of Rossell and has in the past helped negotiate the deals for Henrique and Kerrison in the past.

Seems that he never leaves Neymars fathers side and sits beside him at every single Santos home game and has joined him on his trip to Barcelona just now.

Putting it all together it looks as though he is someone that Barcelona use to get in close to players in South America and gets in with the families etc. Not sure if permanently employed or just used when they need him.

Great manager then.

Well, remembering some fishy business Rosell seemed to be involved with cbf, I'm not surprised. Those signings were weird, to say the least.

Sport
has the news now as well, and they also say he is Barça's representative in south america.

Those signings were so fishy I'm surprised no newspaper brought it up ever again.

I remember watching a documentary on the college football (American) on ESPN about Marcus Dupree. He was the most sought after youngster in college football history and all the big Universities employed guys who had the one aim of keeping him happy, getting close to the family and persuading the guy to go with them.

It seems this Andre Cury guy is that type of employee for the South American region for Barcelona.

Yes, and now he has openly said Barça wants Neymar, even said Neymar is the number one target. Not that this is anything new, but before all it was said was "he is a santos player" and such.

I think Neymar to Barça is a done deal. I hope we won't pay 40m but I'd still like to see him here next season already.

The worrying thing is Andre Cury is saying that Neymar will take over from Messi as the main man in a few years.

He needs to understand more that Neymar comes to earn his place like everyone else and arrogant statements like that are not what Barcelona is about.

Hopefully that is just his comments and not the general idea of the Neymar camp.

If we sign Neymar we can still play the Madridista card and say we'll earn everything back with commercial deals and shirt sales :pep:

The thing is that most of the people who eventually buy his shirt would have bought a shirt from another player if he wasn't there, so it's hard to measure the commercial aspect.

I don't think we should buy players just for commercial reasons anyway, but :rosell:

Hi everyone, first post on this forum for me. Watch all barca games a big fan (like most people I guess). Just wonder what people here think the chances of neymar arriving this summer? Is it all for so from the president? Percentage wise what do people think?
I dont think he should be top of the shopping list though, I think Mats Hummels should be.. We have no height or leadership without Puyol and I cringe

Not really as they are predicting a massive increase in shirt sales in South America/Brazil. These guys are not so stupid that they dont understand people would buy a shirt anyway.

It is a fact that he is already one of the most marketable players in the world and it helps not only in shirt sales but in sponsorship deals etc.

It is not reason alone to buy a player but he is an exceptional player and 40m is not a big price for him regardless of the marketing. IMHO.

Rosell (president): "There's a German player I like a lot, but I can't say who it is, because it could make a transfer more expensive" [zdf]
