Mark Clattenburg will be the referee for this CL final.

What do you think of him? I don't know much about his style.

He's a narcissist who seems to suffer from temporary but acute perception problems. He also likes to be in the spotlight. Expect a lot of controversial calls and him making an event out of his refereeing. Also was accused of abusing black players and being a racist a few years ago.

In short, he's an asshole.

How is he on punishing fouls, in particular, is he afraid to hand out reds? I better hope not, Atletico get away with alot of dirty play because referees are afraid to give reds. Then again, we could suffer from a harsh ref too(looking at you, Ramos...).

Things never went downhill for Pep in Barca, or any coach in barca for that matter, because things never go downhill there. Unfair comparison.

Sure. Rijkaard's last season went downhill compared to the previous ones and who can forget Tata's season too.

Rijkaard is a different era, in this era Barca pretty much always wins a double or treble each year, no matter who is the coach or not(100 points without a coach says it all). They won the league with Tata too, but the ref robbed them.

Things definitely went downhill for Pep in his last season here in 2011/2012. La Liga was downhill from nearly the start of the season, there was a small blip of hope in Feb/March of catching Madrid, but it was nothing. Madrid were comfortable for pretty much the entire year.

We were still trying to renew his contract though.

Didn't you watch the Allianz affair between Atléti-Bayern? He carded the bavarians 4 times, Atléti once. He seems to like Simeone's boys. :p
On a serious note, like DC said, he loves the spotlight, and card-happy indeed. This season in the CL, he's officiated 6 games and cautioned 29 times, and shown 0 RC.

As i feared, card happy with yellows, but reluctant to give out reds(most likely), like refs in general.

Interesting. So let's hope he'll do a great job in this final.

An advantage for Atletico surely, he often allows rough play.

He was the ref for the Spurs/Chelsea game that got a lot of negative attention for how far both sides went. He even came out and said he should have been more strict regretting how the match turned out. So I'm expecting him to do a total 180 for this game. Not good for Atleti.
