 at those who think Beckham isn't good.

Suarez may have achieved more than RVP, but there's no way he's better. RVP is much more clinical, has a much better shot and long ball, and is in general the more dangerous of the two.

Tbf RVP as had his injuries, regularly missing large parts of the season. The games he has played in though he’s always been consistant and class.

I like Suarez and i don't like comparing players but RVP is a bad comparison for him, different types of players and he is not at that level yet. A better comparison to match Suarez up against would be Tevez/Aguero, strikers with similar qualities to him and I would say Suarez is better than Tevez currently, but hasn’t quite hit the heights Tevez as yet in the Premier League.

I'm not really sure but the reason that many people here belittle the PL is because of its fans claiming how it's apparently the best league in the world. I wouldn't think that it is indeed true and apart from that, I've yet to see someone say that a Sunday league or whatever has a better standard than PL. Having said that, I'd like to say that league comparisons are somewhat pointless and while no league can be the best (I'm taking everything into account and not just the level of plays.) every one of them has their pros and cons.

Anyways. Ah, another versus battle, I'd like to join too. :O

Let's see....while I may agree that RvP is currently the better overall player, to think that the comparison is completely invalid would be a bit wrong. Suarez is certainly better than the other in some aspects of the game and has a lot of playing years ahead of him. Apart from that, he's managing to keep up, in terms of goals scored, with the Dutch forward and the difference in the quality of the whole team, let alone the supporting cast, for both player is very obvious and if Suarez continues at the same rate, he'll be very close, if not beyond, the 30-goal-mark. So, I don't see how Suarez is still to convince in the PL either. Lastly, I'd also say that Suarez carrying Liverpool is a more impressive feat than what RvP did with Arsenal last season.

Bale would perhaps disagree

It's daft to stereotype "British" players (not saying that you are) because you're talking about four different footballing countries with four different setups. The Welsh are not miles behind like England are, their youth teams play possession football and they're probably punching above their weight in terms of the talent they produce. Bale, Ramsey and Allen would all get into an England squad, if not the first team.

You aren't Welsh by any chance are you?

Wales not miles behind who?

I would say there is only 1 British player outside England that could get into the England team and that's Bale, i don't believe Ramsey and Allen would get anywhere near the squad.

The rest of the world when it comes to youth development.

Allen would be starting for England, nevermind getting close to the squad. He's easily a better CM than Cleverley, who is comparable to Ramsey, if not worse.

You do realize English teams develop most of Wales's youth and all those players you said? But no way man on anything you said, you're entitled to your opinion though.

The English league is a more competitive league and therefore more interesting because of that. However, the quality of La Liga is far higher IMO and that is why I prefer it. I get very bored with people making comparisons all the time. Who cares? They both are what they are and in the end it is down to individual preference regarding which league you follow more closely.

Best post in this thread, including all of mine. Well said! :)

Suarez is only 25 is yet to hit reach his peak but he's already on-a-par or even better than RVP(who is easily at his peak right now). He's much clever with the ball and easily a better dribbler. Last season was his first for Liverpool and it's always going to be difficult to settle in to the PL, but still it was far from disastrous. How many seasons did it even take for RVP to perform consistently, if at all, he's being consistent only in the past 3 seasons. Why don't you go have look on that stats of his first 4 seasons.
Suarez has achieved more than what RVP has by his age, both at club and Interantional level. I definitely rate him better than RVP and he could only get better.

And about the big clubs not in for him is more to do with his willingness to stay in Liverpool, he has barely shown any signs about being unhappy there. And they all know Liverpool is not really a selling club, and even if they do, they make sure they get 50 million. It's not like Arsenal you know:p

Suarez might be the better of the two players when compared to the levels they were both at at his age, but that's not the discussion is it. He may well end up the best of the best (By god I hope not though) but right now in my opinion its a bit daft to say he's better than RVP currently with everything considered.

I find people saying ''The Premier league is definitely the best in the world!'' just as cringeworthy as I do people here saying the opposite. Like the guy above said, its down to personal preference, and the achievements of both shouldn't be belittled by either sides of the coin.

I've always thought of you as a decent poster. But this crazy talk. Have you even seen Liverpool or United this season? Cleverly is really starting to pick his game up, and I'd much prefer him playing over Scholes, whereas Allen is going the same way as Carrol, and many Liverpool fans would even prefer Henderson starting above him.

It was a direct reply to "hence why there have been no top Scottish/Welsh or Irish players last 15 years".

With that said, interesting to hear. Part of Bale's success must have come from being in the Southampton academy too.
