If he's not worse than Haaland on the ball then at best he's slightly better, hard to say. It doesn't matter though because it's far from Aguero, Benzema, Suarez, Lewy level to be a strength of his.
That's a fair point if true. It's splitting hairs.

Timing for him doesn't seem right, he also isn't a big name that Laporta would probably want for our next 9. Everything points to Haaland in 2026, it just makes sense for Haaland and for us. I wouldn't bring him, I like my players with a little technical skill but Laporta will buy him for the new CN if possible.
I would prefer Grykeres over Haaland any day of the week. Guy just needs a good team beihind him and he will show output.

My Football Manager brain wants to buy him in 2025 and have both Lewa and Gyokeres on team. LOL.

Need a striker that really wants to play here. Can't participate in auctions with rich EPL sides. Pretty much like how Raphinha specifically aimed for Barcelona. You do that as a striker, we can come up with a good offer for the club. It's easier if the player plans his career moves ahead. Don't extent contract, make sure you have 1-2 seasons left, not 3-4, and you gain leverage.

"So far, Manchester United have not played a role in the race for Viktor #Gyökeres.

⚠️ However, with the confirmed appointment of Ruben #Amorim at #MUFC, it is possible that the Red Devils will become involved soon. Close sources believe this will happen, as Amorim is a big fan of Gyökeres. The Swedish striker has scored 59 goals and provided 23 assists in 65 games under the new United manager at Sporting so far.

Four clubs are currently in the race: Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea. The 26y/o can leave Sporting next summer for €60-70m, as revealed earlier this week.

Think his clause is 100m.

This generation of 9s is horrible, probably the worst in the history of football. No need to rush with anybody, maybe someone really talented appears in the next 2 years. We all know Lewa will stay until 2026, we can scout the market until then. I suspect Laporta will go for Haaland but I hope we find someone better.

That is very true.

Take a look at EPL staring 9 for example:

Arsenal has Kai/Jesus, Manu has Zirkzee/Hojland, Chelsea has Jackso, Spurs has Solanke, Liverpool has Darwin.

None of them are consistent 20 goals per season threat (all competitions) , and they are all some of the wealthiest clubs in the world, probably all of them are top 10 in terms of financial abilities. Only Isak and Halaand are proper no 9 there.

Liga clubs has decent ones with old Lewa, Mbappe & maybe Alvarez will catch up.

Same for Ligue 1 & Bundesliga, with only Kane as consistent elite striker there.

This is going to be a tough one for us tbh.

Just like CDM was a couple of years ago, when every decent one was costing 70M or so due to the high demands and low quality.
