Vitor Roque (loaned to Real Betis)

Looked rusty with first touch, but with his agility contributed for the 3rd goal of Felix. One thing Lewa fails to do is to drag defenders out of their zone nowadays.
Was about to say the exact same thing. The reason we were able to find space in the MIDDLE of the pitch is the fact that El Tigre is constantly on the move.

Infact that's been one of the main problems this season. Trying to play through the middle when you have players in the middle who don't move.

If Lewa was on the pitch, guaranteed Felix doesn't get that chance.

His first touch was always going to be an issue coming here. Let's see how he is though once we gets his first goal. He is getting the chances which is a good sign.

His run dragged the defender that gave the space for the Felix winner. Good movement though a poor game on the ball.

You're welcome
I thought i caught one good first touch from a pass with power behind it where many a times i see it jump far off barca foot. Could be wrong.

His movements helped to change the game, having a dynamic attack makes all the difference.
Needs to start finishing better though
Ah yes, the best excuse for bums these days - "movement".
Every post about Ferran is related to his movement, because for everything else he is a waste of time and money.

People need to get it into their heads that if a player doesn't at least show flashes of the outstanding, he will never be of the required level to be elite long therm.

Roque wasn't showing anything outstanding in his YouTube reels, no coincidence he looks lost in LL.

Roque is a poacher, that is his YT highlights and games he played in Brazil showed. There is no flashes of outstanding or brilliance on those, maybe if you made a career video for them when they are in their 30's.
When he get comfortable with his finishing he will be an asset here.
If Ferran was a good finisher, most would be happy with him here, because with his movement he would actually been good.
If Roque finishing didn't translate, he will be a bum because movements isn't enough as you say.
Unlike Torres though, Roque joined us as teenage from Brazil, not as seasoned player with experience in Liga, CL, EPL. So patience and appreciation of what he brings to offense as sub is normal to ask.

We have been too patient with this fool, it's time to send him back to brazil with Raphinha... Haha just kidding, will at least give him this season + the next one to start making a judgement...

Of course he'll get this season and probably the next one. Loan in summer would be another possibility.

Otherwise he just doesn't look like a future world beater. He'll probably be at Betis in 2 seasons, or worse.

Good post.

Only thing that has been truly alarming is that in his short amount of minutes is the amount of times he can't get the ball back to a team mate. I think even Jutgla could be relied upon to do that.

But it's something we have known since Brazil league.

Roque scored plenty of goals that were not just poachers goals.

His movement in behind looked very good in Brazil v a high line and he scored some decent strikes also.

We have to start showing just a bit more patience with all these kids in our team that are better 16-20.

In a normal situation they all wouldn't be regular starters or contributor, but we are were we are and they have mostly been great for us.

The players in our team that are mid 20's and up who should be leaders and regular high class performers, they deserve whatever criticism they get.

If Ferran's finishing was good consistently he would be a 15/20+ league goals per season type of player.

So smart, great movement with direct runs + good pace is definitely a fantastic asset as long as you can combine it good finishing.

That's basically how Haaland has gotten 90% of his goals throughout his career. Obviously I'm NOT comparing Roque or Ferran to Haaland as he's a different beast altogether, but just pointing out how you don't need to be R9 level technically to succeed.

As always been the case his movement is very good and he will thrive the more bodies there are getting forward at pace.

Same as why Pep liked him.. arriving in box with Man Citys style and options he was doing very well.

Never was and never will be a touchline winger.

Excited to see his first start. Always tougher to be subbed on, especially as a new guy who's also a teenager.

Wonder when that start will come. Villarreal (they are really poor this season) and Osasuna at home in next two league games, might be a good opportunity to start him in one of those games.

OTOH with Raphinha out Yamal will most likely start these games and I doubt Xavi would play both from the start. But tbf he did have cojones to give Cubarsi his first start in a tough away game.
