One of the few genuinely talented English footballers although I have read that he is actually Irish.

As far as Irish fans are concerned, any decent English player with an Irish granny is Irish and loves his Irish roots, and only plays for England because of pressure/money etc. It's how they console themselves for poaching foreign players and supporting so many of the Englishmen that represent them at international level. There are 12 in their current squad for example...

Rooney will have a quality year. No doubt in my mind, united fans need to trust in him.

It's not about not trusting him. It's (sadly) that I think he's on the decline. For a fair chunk of the second half of last season and this preseason, he has really been lacking.

I obviously hope you are right though.

 This might just be worse than our dealings with our friends traffic

Normally a club can subsidize a players wages, but the club has committed upwords of £60m on him over the next four seasons. Even if give him away, we'd probably still need to put in at least half of that amount for the buying club and that is just not gonna happen. We're unfortunately stuck with Rooney for the foreseeable future and he is the single biggest reason for our pathetic displays.
