his amazing world record of spending 42 days inside a box while doing nothing except watching the world go by has just been beaten by Wayne Rooney.

It's not Rooney's fault England sucks. Let's check out the big four:

Chelsea: The entire squad has 10 english players, with Cole, Lampard & Terry the only ones who actually play. Others are Sinclair (who?), Turnbull, Sturridge, Hutchinson (who?), Mancienne (who?), Philliskirk (WHO?! ), McEachran.
Liverpool: Also 10 players. Johnson, Gerrard, Carragher.
Arsenal: Has !!!4!!! I don't really know Arsenal, but I don't think anyone has a place in their best 11. Walcott, Wilshere, Gibbs, Campbell.
United: 11 players. Neville, Ferdinand, Brown, Rooney.

That makes a total of only 10 english players who actually play an important role for their club.
Comparison, Barça has also 10 Spanish players but 7 of them play.

No its not Rooneys fault that the WC was a miserable campaign for England but what it should do is explode the myth of his 'world class' status and comparisons with Messi and Ronaldo. White Pele my arse.

Sorry to disagree but Rooney is a world class player, not on the level of Messi (but then no one is) but on his day he is easily as good as Torres better imo certainly world class, yes he had a poor world cup but everyone in the England team did (maybe with the exception of cashley) but he was still carrying an ankle injury.

I hate Man Utd and Rooney so to stick up for him feels weird but I have lost count of the games he has carried Utd and the number of points he has won them singlehandedly
