Wayne Rooney

i've got one thing to say about some of the fans though (which makes me understand what Rooney said...fair enough i'm biased as a United fan)..

these are the same fans who booed Beckham and were burning effergies after WC 98 and then were on his balls after he got them to the WC with his free kick against Greece

the same fans who used to sing 'stand up if you hate United' but were fretting over Rio's injury this time round and placed massive expectations on Rooney during this and the last WC.

There's other cases as well, Hargreaves being vilified then being voted Englands player of the tournament in '06, if I recall correctly, Crouch was getting boos at one point too...

You only think it was a legendary comment, because it was a player you like that said it.

you don't know what I think, sunshine. :)

These players earn £150,000 per week and can't even muster up a decent performance, Rooney was a tosser for saying it, and I would have said any player who said that was a tosser including gerrard or carragher.

They deserved the full criticism the fans dished out to them. Without question IMO.

well you are a fair-weather fan prone to hissy-fits so I suppose you taking this stance shouldn't surprise me.

HAHAHA-England are utter SHITE! I was born in England but would never fucking support them.

They lack basic technique-cant even control the ball. Cant pass, cant think on their feet.

Lack character and behave like louts-gambling, boozing, brawling-not an ounce of intelligence. These guys lucked out-if they werent English they would never have made it to the PL and they wouldnt be making fancy wages.

What is wrong with the English team is the thing thats wrong with the whole fucking country in general-they are satisfied with mediocriety and deserve that only. Also the superiority complex and smug arrogance of the English still seems to exists. Face it-the world has moved on and England hasnt. Here's to England losing to Slovenia!

And you're an armchair fan who doesn't attend any live football on a regular basis, it's logical that you fail to understand the raw passion within somebody that has travelled thousands of miles and spent thousands of pounds that compels them to boo their side after an abject display. I've booed Northampton Town sides before after they've failed to show the necessary commitment, it's a weapon in every fan's arsenal that they have the right to use when their team doesn't match their expectations in terms of effort and desire.

Will you not be joining the many ranks of Barca armchair fans for next season yourself though?

Will probably be getting to more games than I did from Alicante, but the majority of my live football will be at the Sixfields Stadium in Northampton. Google image search the ground, it makes the San Siro look like a garden shed ;)

Really? How many games did you go to of Barca last season? Maybe I did more even, I was in 3 games of theirs.

I did, it has proper seats for start, so its more luxurious than the sansa for sure. :D

I see, well I did go to many more Depor games, and a CL match in Madrid also.

I remember you saying you went to the Barca game in San Mames and meant to ask you, I was at that game also. But did you see the Barca bus arrive with the team before the match at their hotel? I didn't go with the intention of seeing them, just so happened I was in the plaza when they arrived. It was the first liga game after Henry hand ball, and as he got off the bus a group of British/Irish (I heard them speaking English after), booed him as he got off the bus, was that you?

LOL, no, I didn't see the team bus arrive, I was too busy enjoying pintxos and kalimotxos :D I thought it was funny when the Athletic fans all shouted "manos" when Henry got his first touch of the ball though.

you support booing, eh?

given your gooner allegiances I shouldn't be surprised.

I don't live anywhere near a football team. when I was at uni I attended a fair few aberdeen games. never booed them even though they were shite quite a lot. never saw the logic in it.

same with walking out on a film, even if it's pish. I've spent my money, I'm gonna make the best of things and try and enjoy myself. fucking self-important "IMPRESS ME" fans.

alright, I never spent thousands of pounds to go to a world cup, but to be honest if I had, the feeling would be even greater. if I'd spent thaaaaat much money, even if the team was cack, I'd try to remain in high spirits. jesus, why spend that much and be a grumpy fuck?

I'm sure you have an answer, so good luck to ya, you continue to be grumpy northampton/barca fan.

:)

I do have an answer but the fact I have to explain makes doing so totally pointless I'm afraid. I don't question your allegiance as a Barca fan in the slighetst, nor anybody else's, but there is a particular aspect of football that one only understands through going to matches.
