Puig is too old, yet not old enough. It is either below 20 (Fati, Pedri, Gavi, Pablo Torre) or over 30.

Why do you think Dest and Frenkie are transfer listed?

La Liga going to become a one team league soon. Watch Real Madrid dominate the next five to six years domestically. Xavi has no long term vision. Getting veterans on the cheap MAY save face in the short tem but long term it's a recipe for disaster. We need to move on Busquets, Alba, Pique and Mats already and than if you bring in three thirty plus year olds they will need to be replaced soon too.

Look at the ages of the players we are being linked with! Jeez!

Alves, 39
Pique, 35
Alba, 33
Busquets, 33 (34 in July)
Roberto, 30
Aubameyang, 32 (33 in June)

Rumored transfers:
Lewandowski, 33 (34 in August)
Koulibaly, 30 (31 in June)
Azpilicueta, 32 (33 in August)
Alonso, 31 (32 in December)

I think age isn't even the huge issue there, most of these won't be playing together anyway so it mostly means we're having a lot of players leave at once in ~2-3 years but we have a big squad anyway. We also have:

Torres 22
Fati 19
(Dembele 25)
Frenkie 25
Gavi 17
Pedri 19
Nico 20
Araujo 23
Garcia 21
Dest 21

And Christensen (26) and Kessie (25) joining.

Bigger problem there is it's all the defenders and we keep starting the same old guys regardless of squad. But tbh no young player joining would change that, doesn't matter new LB or DM are 17, 22, 26, 29, 31...it'll be Alba and Busquets every week.

RB kinda similar, issue with Azpi isn't just age as we actually have a young RB in Dest. Problem is they all aren't great.

Well, it is what it is :valverde2:

"Xavi is interested in Jack Wilshere (30) and is waiting for him to turn 31 before making a move. He remembers him having an excellent game for Arsenal in 2010 against Barcelona, and believes he is now entering his prime. [Marcasala]"

More on this:

"Xavi believes that Wilshere possesses a very specific set of qualities and has a unique playing style which is difficult to find elsewhere in the market. Despite injury worries, Xavi believes that he takes good care of himself and it won't be a problem if his minutes are managed well. Laporta and Xavi internally believe that the signing of 38 year old Alves was a brilliant one. Xavi has already talked to Wilshere on the phone thrice and explained to him that he'll be an important part of the new project. In all likelihood, Wilshere will form a very technically adept double pivot with Busquets."

Ronald Koeman: "If Barcelona want to win the Champions League next season, many things must change at the club."As soon as they leave or have not yet arrived, they say the right things. When they lead the team, they don’t want to change anything, they talk about DNA and bet on veteran players. Mystery.

Wait....are you serious? Didn't he get a lot of flak from people here for having said something along those lines when he WAS actually a coach? damn if i do, damn if i dont I guess...

Koeman has been most flexible with inclusion of as many youngsters as possible. lol. Weird to say he did not want to change anything and only rely on veterans. Also difficult to bring change if president is against you.

New young players were put in while the main players had injuries, then Roberto recovered, Piqu? and the League was lost. The base was the same, slow and tired. Before joining, he criticized for using players not in their positions, after joining, he shuffled everyone, Frankie, Griezmann all over the field. To change is to change, if they don't let you change, leave.
