Ronald Koeman on Barcelona

🗣️: "With Xavi they have improved and they will surely win La Liga. It is a much improved squad. A coach is good or bad depending on his players. For me we have to celebrate this title in a big way because we have not won it for several seasons."

Thank God our board isn't like Bayern, let's figure a young up and coming coach so we can do better in the CL 😄😄😄.

Too trigger happy.

I rate tuchel as a coach though, but some here though tuchel would come to Barcelona & make us the favourites for the CL again lol.

Sometimes you just have to rebuild slowly over time, league title in the first year, great first steps.

We should have gotten a A++++ in transfers, play champagne football & compete heavy for the treble in his first season, after the shit show that was the previous couple of years.

Haha all this 'rebuild' talk now Barca are not where a lot expected them to be.
When a year ago same folk claimed Barca can never have a rebuilding phase and needed to spend ludicrous amounts of money on 34 yr old strikers to provide now etc.
Usual mental gymnastics.
Of course they need to rebuild. Last summers market was poor bar Christensen and a lot of money wasted when should have been better spent on what team needs.
Now they wont have money to do it and idea of 'rebuild' will be more old players and Messi back.

And what have we done? Aaaah win now, league titles don't count, were psg & Bayern, we've won like 6 of those in a row.

We can't go 4/5 years without winning and selling all our best youngers, which was the argument being put forward by dodo the clown, only to as per usual contradict it a few months.

Of course league titles count and Barca should always been in hunt for league without short term signings like Lewa.

The whole idea of Lewa was sold as competing in Europe AND the league. The money in Europe going long way to try and justify his fee.

Nope... 'selling the best players' was held up to how bad the 50 yr levers deal was that some wanted and claimed 'all sane businesmen' would want when it looked like Barca were going that way.

Barca then came out and said that would be terrible for future of club and rejected it.... likes of Jamorck then lied about every supporting that deal,

Usual.

The alternative put forward at that time was to live under currrent rules for another season and assess then but dont let the truth get in the way eh.

Lol. Another shit show from Xavi. This time resulted in a draw instead of a 1-0 win.

My genuine question is how many transition seasons will we require before we turn into a competitive team in CL again??? KOEMAN, transition season. Last season and this season transition. Now people will say we are under construction....yet again. Truly big clubs don't need a transition season. They tweak slightly and suddenly they win cl again. Whether it's a different manager or two to three new players being brought in. That fatty Laporta was the one claiming there are no transition seasons at Barca lol.
The club needs a revolution, not a transition. Stuck in its old ways, unable to adapt to the modern game.

From where we start, another five years or so, longer if we decide to dwell in the past and bring Messi back. There is nothing elite about this team, its coach or its management left. What this team needs to learn first is how to finish a match and how to not crumble completely when you concede a goal. Baby steps.

And about Laporta: It's not a transition season if barely eking out lucky 1-0s and failing miserably in the EL is the new normal

Which big team slightly tweaked & then suddenly wins the CL again?

Because Madrid has won 5 of the last 9, by this season could be 6 of 10, we won 1, so that's 6, Liverpool took years to win one again, then we have Bayern would be 1 in 10 years if not for that covid CL and Chelsea about 9 years betweens championships.

So let us know which big team made a slight tweak & the won the CL again lol.

No transition seasons & he won the league in his first season, so that would be him fulfilling his word ain't it?.

But go ahead tell us what are the BIG teams that made slight tweaks & won the CL.

Barcelona has been in transition since 2016. That's the last time this club had a 'complete' team.

How many (moderately) successful first team transfers has this club made in the last 7 years?

-FDJ (inconsistent for a significant portion of the time he's been here)
-Dembele (huge injury problems)
-Pedri
-Aubameyang (Only here for a few months)
-Christensen

^^^Even these names will be argued by some fans but they are actually the only ones that can be even debated as successful. The rest has been mediocre to absolute garbage. Either way ~5 successful first team transfers in 7 years is atrocious.

We have the worst recruitment on the entire planet. And it's only gotten worse since we let Xavi take reigns. Under him we've spent over 200m on Raphinha, Kounde, Lewa and Torres. All of whom fall into that mediocre to absolute garbage spectrum mentioned above.

Barcelona needs 1) A world class sporting director and 2) A world class coach before this club spends another cent. It's so bad that the safest bet in football that one can make these days is that a Barcelona signing will fail because our recruitment is just garbage.

This is a more well reasoned argument, a bit too emotional, but you're right we've been in transition for a long time poor succession planning by the previous leaders of the club led us to this situation.

I've said this multiple times before, but I knew we were fucked when bartomeau said it's hard to get class players into the team when you have players like xavi, iniesta & Messi here like WTF , he just threw his hands up and decided to squeeze everything possible out of those guys.

But better days are ahead, first steps have been taken.

Yea they won the covid CL, which was their first in about 7 years.

So I'm still trying to figure who who are these big teams that make small tweaks & win the CL
Madrid bought in Ancelotti. Another manager tweak. Won league and CL.
Chelsea brought in Di Matteo, won cl. Brought in Tuchel and won Cl.
Bayern got thrashed by us in 09. Made tweaks and got to cl final next year. We are way behind in Europe. FFS we can't even compete in EL lol.

A world class manager is the biggest and most important signing a club can make in todays football, just look at United under ten Hag. They aren't a great team by any means and a lot of their players are pretty average BUT you can see a difference in those 'average' players this season, you can see the team starting to take shape under him after years of horrendous managerial appointments. There's a clear plan.

Top managers can get a performance out of average players.

Xavi, I don't see any plan or any improvement. Dembele would be the biggest 'improvement' but that is more down to him actually staying fit longer since Xavi arrived. We scraped by with 1-0 wins and got very lucky defensively in the league; we saw what happened in Europe.

Xavi is just another Lampard. Great players do not always make great managers. Nepotism is destroying this club.

Lmao. They thrashed us 8 2. That team 9f ours had Messi, Suarez, Rakitic,Vidal,Pique etc. Our flop Coutinho rubbed it in our face with a brace and assist. You have a short memory. Their cl is not devalued just because of COVID.
