Dont agree. Barca have a lot to improve on even winning that title and thats what should be seeing.

CL progress will be seen when come up against first decent team more so than by how far get.

Topping a poor CL group and beating a poor Napoli is expected and not success.

I can agree with that in theory.

The reality is quite harder to pull off. It's expected also for United to not finish on 4th place in a group containing Copenhagen and Galatasaray. A lot of things are expected at many teams and yet not that many teams deliver even the expected things.

It's also expected for Bayern to not be at the mercy of a typical Dortmund bottle-job in the last round of last season in Bundesliga. Not to mention them being kicked out by Villareal in the season before in CL. And so on.

Sometimes even the expected things in theory are not that easy to do in practice.

United are completely irrelevant.

When point to other teams that have failed it tells its own story really.

Yes all teams have expectations..and how live up to them matters. Barca included.

Getting past Napoli to QFs then making cunt of themselves in QF would be yet another European failure.

Generally, being super-demanding with managers is not always the best course of action. With this team if we keep the bar super-high, we'll change managers like crazy. On per year, or every two years.

True. But expectations can be set well, or not so well. If expectations are set not so well... then any guy that comes in is up for a huge task.

That might work if you can attract the best managers in the business. If you're like current Barca, that's not so smart.

For example, repeating back to back La Liga titles is a huge task with this squad. Extremely difficult.

The expectations are more than fair to beat who have and likes of a poor Napoli and then not get humiliated when meet contenders.

Underpinned by previous failures. If one off then it is not seen as harshly but repeated failure and another one would be tough to get past.

It is lower expecatations than top coaches are facing and it is ridiculous if start changing what base expectations are due to coach not being good enough anyway. That is a pathetic loser mentality that allows standards to drop and be accepted.

What are you even talking about? Completely going off the rails as usual.

Sorry no the base expectations of Barca do not get lowered because Xavi is not a top coach. Thats not how it works.

They remain the same as if Pep was in charge and from there the top coaches will have better chance of exceeding them.. as Xavi will try to do also.

Nah completely on rails as usual while you mouth off about club lowering expectations as Xavi not a top coach and bringing up other teams that failed which have no relevance.

Usual nonsense from you waffling from one post to next with 'poor Xavi' routine.

Do better.

Yea, well, for current Barca, the realistic peak is winning a league title. And for CL lets see if we can maybe get to a quarterfinal. Napoli is a better example compared to our situation, than likes of Liverpool and City running with elite managers and elite squads assembled for some 800-1000 millions.
Liverpool’s net spend over the last 9 years is slightly north of 200m.

If it wasn't completely obvious at this point he has no grip on this team.

I have no idea what the hell is going on behind the scenes in the locker room but good lord the lack of systematic play and tactical discipline is nonexistent at this point.

We aren't digging ourselves out of this mess if we keep playing like we have.

Xavi is not great coach, but for Barca he is good, not sure how good he will be in another club. He has the trust of the players and is respected by the president and catalan media, because of his status. The dressing room is calmer that way and thats very important in big clubs. He is good motivator also, so many wins with 1 goal couldnt be luck.

Players dont look calm at all. They look confused and lacking direction.

While Xavi regularly stands on sidelines berating them and abusing them for mistakes.

“Regularly” is one time 3 days ago for 2+ years.

Your best players are calm(Araujo, FDJ,Gundo,Cancelo,Mats). The others are just bad or with super low confidence now (Romeu, Felix, Balde).
