Let's say we sack him. Who can we hire? Conte? Lopetegui? Marquez? Flick? Laporta won't fire him because he knows he can't get anyone decent right now. We need to aim for someone much better next summer or we'll sink even deeper.

What if you sink even deeper with Xavi himself? Would you risk not getting top four or what?

Assuming what JamDav says is true, about reports of players not trusting Xavi anymore, then that's the finish line for him, you can't recover from that, it's only one way from that point, downwards.

Cant see it being a job considered by any top coach with options.

There is no real direction and the club is run as a political play thing and not as a serious business/football club.

As always board think about their own tenure and little ahead of that.

There's upcoming coaching options who either know the club or the league and language.

-Cesc
-Iraola
-Michel
-Motta
-even Pimienta

Then there's those like Zerbi.

Options are not lacking, but clear project is.

Still, club has a talented group and doesn't have the crop of amigos that needed to be worked around like before. Hardly doomsday scenario.

Yeah I prefer Motta.

Has the playing experience + Bologna is punching their weight under his leadership + did pretty well with Spezia.

If Motta doesn't work, then bring in Lionel Scaloni after he wins the WC 2026

Fairly damning article by Javi Miguel who has been one of Xavis biggest backers....

Xavi Hernandez asked for "forgiveness" from the fans as soon as the match was over. And not only because of the defeat, but above all because of the image of his team, which was outplayed from start to finish by a plethoric Real Madrid. The Blaugrana coach was dejected, sunk and practically overcome by the circumstances. As much as his words in a press conference opened a door to hope, "Barcelona will come back for sure; If we've done it once, we can do it again," the reality is that his speech sounded hollow and unconvincing, pulling more from a self-help manual than anything else.

The problem is that there was no strong reaction within the dressing room either, AS has learned. After a very irregular first half and leaving the field with a 3-1 deficit, the players expected a version very similar to that of Xavi in Almeria: banging at everything in front of him, shouting from the rooftops, pointing openly and literally tearing their clothes. However, and despite the poor first half, the squad found Xavi with little desire to talk, offering the right slogans, spurring his team on and asking for a little more commitment. But no shouting, no fighting, no viciousness, nothing at all. "He looked like he had run out of rope," one of the witnesses said.
And the truth is that things went from bad to worse in the second half, where the team was a puppet in the hands of Real Madrid. No reaction, no ambition, no desire, no pride, no commitment, nothing at all. The anger in the box was monumental, with Joan Laporta witnessing the humiliation live, and with Xavi absolutely bewildered on the bench.

Xavi asked for "a reset" from the squad to start from scratch. Tuesday will be an important day for the coach from Egar, as a summit with the squad is scheduled to analyse the defeat. It will be time to sharpen the knives and mark territory, if you don't, the season may be lost. In the noble zone they are taking good note of all the steps that Xavi is taking. For now, he remains convinced that he is capable of turning the situation around and getting the team out of the rut. However, many at the club feel that he is running out of arguments. This Thursday's Copa del Rey match against Unionistas and especially Betis' in LaLiga could end up being decided.

If alternative is to hire someone like Marquez or Fabregas than I would risk it. We finally need a proper manager, and if that means waiting until summer than I am fine with it. We didn't have a decent manager since Lucho left so we can endure for another 6 months. No one decent would agree to leave his team in the middle of the season just to take over this Barca team.

What half time talk? You could read in his eyes early as 2-0 he had swallowed his words of pride and hope from previous days.
