Xavi has 2 league titles in his resume. Pirlo ended a 9 consecutive league runs for Juve.
Xavi is tiers above the likes of Lampard, Gerard & Pirlo whom fans want to compare him to.
There are dozens of tiers of bad, dozens of tiers for average, same for above average then good, great etc.
Pirlo is in the terrible territory, Xavi is in the average and close to the above average tiers.
He will get decent offers, just not Barca caliber.
Question is whether he will be interested, especially with his wife who was a driving force in his stay in Qatar (said she prefers to raise her kids there over Spain for example)
You must have meant the SuperCopa but I see your point.
Xavi wasn't/isn't bad to be honest.
I think inexperience with overconfidence done him. Overconfidence in the abilities of his manageriable and probably too much trust in his brother on the tactical and in-game reading side of things.
He also really struggles with taking ownership when things don't go his way. The press and fans were very lenient with the type of football we displayed. There should be some honest self reflection on how the entertainment factor that he promised to bring, after 24 months never came.
As said, put him in a lower pressure team with no necessity to play well, a modest regular transfer budget and he probably does decent. If we could have continued playing a containing game with a 4 man midfield and we would probably be doing better this season season too. But getting out of his managerial comfort zone and having to play attacking really led to the defensive system going haywire.
Our situation is not nearly as bad as is being made out though, but we are a fanbase and media that lives in extremes.
The only thing absolutely necessary is that we hire a high quality manager next to work with our existing group. Maybe a little inexperience will benefit too as managing Barcelona is like getting into the trenches, and it is something that if you are old, you may not have the will to fight in again.
