I wanted Xavi gone due to lack of development/improvement of the squad on the pitch.

But if we reach the final that surely is a testament that he somewhat knows what he's doing and that the team are behind him. For that I'm fine with him staying.

If we lose to PSG then yes I agree with you.
There is some improvement in our form as of late. But last night it was more about Donnaruma playing for us that we got the win.

If we were on the other bracket every team in there would have smashed us in the first leg.

Could be, we'll see in the next few games.

No, Donnarumma was not good but this is not on him. PSG are a top team and our performance except 5 minutes was great, even more so for an away CL game in the quarters, were we always faced problems, even in the Pep and Lucho years.

We have been improving for some time now, gradually, since Xavi announced his departure.
Which seems to align perfectly with the pressure and criticism point he has been making all along.

We should give credit where credit is due. He is far from perfect and the team is not perfect either, but reaching the semis will be a great achievement for a team playing with 16 and 17 year olds.

Might be great, even with the easy path we have to the final(also had an easy group this season). But for me it's not worthy of keeping Xavi. The football played is still mainly based on individual brilliance or opponents fucking up/not taking their chances.

Bro you gotta learn to give some credit when it's due, you are two steps behind ultra Iniesta.

We were significantly better than PSG, none of our goals were down to luck.

Second goal was a good play, I'll give you that. The other two were clear fuckups by Donnaruma.

PSG were 2-1 an dominating + hit the post. Yes, there was like 30 mins in first half when we were the better team. Second half they had the possession, but lost due to Donnaruma imploding.

Our performance was good overall, I didn't say that we robbed them or something.

You know you're doing great when the goal post keeps moving.

It was he gotta show us he and get out the group stage.

Then it was win in the K.O rounds.

Now it's lose in the final and only against city.

Hats off to Xavi for that.

Don't forget the ultimate benchmark -

Birdy will "only let Xavi stay" if he beats City in the final and WITHOUT "any luck"

What fans are basically saying if they took a minute to think about it, is that Xavi has to be the 2nd best manager in the world, 3rd at the worst to deserve saying as our coach.

Basically the next pep, which is what they are all obsessed with, so they can't take a step back and use a bit of prospective to understand our current situation.

2.5 years a coach.

Forum was shitting bricks when PSG went 2-1 and were all over us. Now Xavi is a very good manager that deserves another season.

Lol exactly because this place and the usual suspects are so freaking reactionary.

But not I.

If people like those on the forum ran the club we would be sooo fucked

Depends what happens in the return leg. Doubt Mbappe will be kept quiet for two legs. If he wakes up we could be in for a shitshow.

If we manage to get through or at least only just about lose then Xavi's shown enough to warrant him staying. There's been a genuine improvement in attacking play and midfield passing patterns this half of the season.

All I wanted to see from him was not looking like we were the inferior team in every match in la liga regardless of quality of opposition. Didn't want us relying on a goalkeeper being la liga player of the season and forwards missing sitters. There's still been a good few games we've been inferior despite weak opposition but that's happening far less than it used to.

Our level is challenging for all competitions and he's achieving that. If he cuts out the blaming the sun/grass/whatever other excuse then maybe he is learning things.
