Apart from the pass to Asexis for the chance that hit the bar we didnt try any of those. And it wasnt even Xavi who made that one.

We need to be much more aggressive at the Camp Nou and we need Messi in godmode.

I've notices the boss has been playing deeper when he starts along with Cesc, I dont know why that is but our game suffers from it.

As does Messi. In order to make room for Cesc's "free roaming position," they have to come deep to retrieve the ball. This requires more time for Messi to make his way up the pitch, either by the triangle passing or finding open space (which never happens, as he's defended by no less than three opposing players), and by the time he gets there the bus is fully in park.

yea, I am sure a lot of us can make 126 lateral passes. How many long range passes in the forward direction did he make? I mean thrusting passes.

IIRC he put Cesc through on goal a couple of times and bossed the game, Xavi is the calm/patient one which is what Barcelona's game is all about.

I do think he hasn't been as good this season as previous but imo it's because he's lost motivation & i don't want to go all hba on your asses but i think he's probably a little peeved about not winning a ballon d'or & probably now realises he is never going to get one, which coincides with the motivation part.

That or he's still carrying an injury:lol:

With 128, Xavi made yesterday 4 times as many passes as the Chelsea player with the most passes #fcblive #ucl Obi Mikel made 32 [via fcb]

It hurts me to say this but he dwells too long on the ball recently. He also looks like he gave up on playing defense splitting passes, completely offloading this responsibility to Messi. We don't need more ball retention or to slow down the tempo against parked busses. I'd actually play the more direct Cesc together with Iniesta in midfield + 2 wide players upfront and leave Xavi on the bench against Chelsea. While at the same time I'd leave Cesc on the bench against Real Madrid and play Xavi. Because I expect Real Madrid to press and harrass us where Xavi's exceptional horizontal play will come handy under pressure and Cesc's directness won't.

Your ideas, folks?

My idea is having Xaviniesta in the center with Messi in front of them, this never seems to fail us.

Xavi: "I don't see myself as a coach. We'll see what the future brings, but at the moment that's not something I'm thinking of." [via md]

Xavi: "The squad doesn't know if Guardiola will renew. It's important he does, he's crucial, the players hope he'll stay." [golt]

I'd legitimately be mad if he does not renew, like the only acceptable reasons not to do so are : Family reasons (more family time ect), health reasons, lifestyle/way of life. If he leaves to another club it would probably be the first time in my life that I will write hate mail, he can have his legend status, but I'd still send hate mail to his manager, new club and everything associated with his that's not FCBarcelona. I'm so worried, Xavi is hiding something from us, I mean what kind of communication do they have if Pep didn't told him already that he is (or not) going to renew.

I think Pep hasn't signed yet because he is waiting to see how this season unfolds. As you might remember, he once said that if I have to decide today I will definetly sign ( this was when we were trailing by 10 points in Liga), therefore I think he will definetly sign if we loose both CL and La Liga titles but if we won both he will definetly call it a day. God knows what he will do if we win either of the two though.

Xavi before Claisico #32, if he plays in Saturday he is going to equal the club's record, set by Joan Segarra.

Why Xavi hating on Rijkaard?

"Rijkaard did not believe in me. He wanted our game to be based on a superior physical level. He believed that it was the only way to be at the same level as the top clubs in Europe," "Four or five years ago, I was [deemed] terrible and useless. I was Barca's cancer! A player 1,70m tall was simply impossible."

Deco was better than him at the time, so I don't see what his beef is other than the fact that he was not playing.

Plus, Rijkaard believed in Andres Iniesta and truly gave him his breakthrough, believed in him and trusted him, and he is EXACTLY 1,70m tall!

is this hate because Rijkaard brought on that youngin Iniesta in the Champions League final instead of him????????

we all know Xavi will speak his mind when asked, but he comes across as bitter with those words.

How do you know that Deco was better than Xavi?
Rijkaard did not release the Don.

Pep did.
